I started getting really high from the cover artwork and the record label offering this CD. When it's time to go back to the roots of what we like to label as Heavy music, it's bands like Debris Inc that serve this purpose in the most appropriate way. Especially, when (ex) members of great bands are featured. The skull on the front cover salutes the listener and a cold beer (at least) is a must for company.
Debris Inc features none other than ex-Trouble bass player Ron Holzer accompanied by Saint Vitus frontman Dave Chandler. Added in a later stage was - my beloved in his Z days - ex-Trouble/Zoetrope drummer Barry Stern (R.I.P.). Judging by the members' history, it's not that easy to assume what kind of music lurks inside. Many Doom elements, low guitars and a punk-ish - at times - attitude sums it up.
Funny lyrics is another case. You see, tunes like Too Many Mushrooms On My Pizza, I Feel Like Shit Again or Full Of Shit (F.O.S.) will probably fail in receiving the Nobel prize in poetry... Two cover versions are included in this drunk debut album, X's Nausea and the Fear countless-covered I Love Living In The City, demonstrating accurately the (mainly) duet's influences/motives in this CD.
Yeap, I don't have much to say. A Punk-meets-Doom album with enough fillers, not that close to Chandler's or Holzer's deeds in terms of music, but of parallel philosophy. Try it, who knows what will come out? I really, anyway, would like to watch Debris Inc backstage together with Orange Goblin during their mutual 2004 North American tour.
