The ears are the best judge about a band's musical work. Our perception can go further into the truth when words try to trick us. My words are clear in their main sense: a band or their press agency can write everything about their work, to call the attention of the fans. They'll try to convince you to hear their music, telling that it is the eighth wonder of the world, when things are a little far from what is said. In the case of the German band DEATHTINY, they can deceive. But "Come to Life", their new work, is excellent, although what I saw wasn't true.

When I was searching for information about the band's work, it was written that they were a mix between Black and Death Metal influences with Classical elements. It's the opposite: they are in a more Symphonic Metal format with some little influences from extreme Metal genres. But this confusion don't take away their value, because besides this formula was used before, the way they play is personal, with an aggressive energy mixing with the sweet classical female voice (besides some nasty male vocals can be heard in some moments). Their melodic insight is stronger than their aggressiveness, but it is truly good.

The sound quality of the album preserves some raw and aggressive tunes on the guitars, and the sonority is clean to allow melodies to be understood by our senses. They deserved a better quality, because it's a bit raw than the necessary, but it's not as bad as some can think. It's good, but not excellent.

Their musical work is really good. And songs as "Path No. 8" with its mix between melodic vocals with harsh instrumental parts, same elements presented on "Come to Life" with its tender female voices and catchy chorus, the fine work from bass guitar and drums on "Wearing Death" with its dark and sad atmosphere (and that has a good guitar solo), the charming melodic lines of the introspective "Time is Now" and its good keyboards parts, the brutal and melodic "The Wall", and the very good guitars shown on "Prescribed Mind Decay" show that they have talent to do a great work on the future.

The simple explanation is the best one, and DEATHTINY has a lot to offer. But "Come to Life" is a very good album, indeed.
