Deathrash Assault

Deathrash Assault? These guys don't seem to be kidding! They're angry and that's obvious. After DeadMeat Disciples, Deathchain have come back to kick our asses. I don't know if they can do that, or maybe I do. Let's see what these Metal freaks are capable of...
Coming from the cold country of Finland, Deathchain were formed back in 2001. As you can see, they are a new band. Despite their five years of existence, Deathchain have managed to release a demo CD (Poltergeist, 2002), a split CD with Deathbound (2005) and two full-length releases, DeadMeat Disciples (2003) and now Deathrash Assault. Currently, they supported Destruction and Candlemass on their Hellhoundz Of Doom And Thrash tour along with Perzonal War.
This album is a killer, for sure! Its heavy as hell production fits Deathchain's music perfectly. After they plug the guitars, total chaos takes over control. This might be the best CD to play while Armageddon is on its way. Rotten's vocals sound more like a beast rather than a human being. We're talking about a thrashy, brutal and surely fast album. Did I say fast? I'm sorry. What I meant was... It's too damn fast! It can leave you headbanging 'till your poor little head explodes. The good thing about this album is that it's more variable than DeadMeat Disciples. Even the melodies in the songs will make you love it. You can describe this magnificent piece of work as a mixture of Thrash/Death Metal, filled with a few Black Metal elements, but only a few. Old school Metal machine! Here, you can find a song that is more mid tempo than other compositions the band has made, Panzer Holocaust. Great song! Some of their riffs remind bands like Kreator and Destruction a lot. What impressed me was Deathrash Legions. Its lyrics refer to historical albums like Kill'em All, Show No Mercy, Welcome To Hell.
The only thing that kind of disappointed me was the bass lines (since I'm a bass player, too). Kuolio seems to lack of inspiration and creativity and just follows the guitars. It's not something bad, but in this specific kind of music, the bass should sometimes find its way to the top. Maybe the production isn't helping the bass show itself. I don't know.
Anyway, this is an album that must be one of 2005's top releases. Solid compositions that even though there is an old school attitude, they sound fresh and modern. If you haven't even heard about Deathchain, be sure to do so. If you haven't added Deathrash Assault to your CD collection, get the fuck out of your house and run to the nearest record store...
