We Deserve Much Worse

The first time I came across the name Kai Jaakkola was less than a week ago, when I reviewed DEATHCHAIN's brand new album Cult Of Death. As some of you may know, Mr Jaakkola is DEATHCHAIN's new singer. To tell you the truth, our first meeting was not the best possible since Cult Of Death is slightly disappointing in my opinion. Let's just hope that We Deserve Much Worse will restore his name and prove his worth to me.
I knew this band but I never had the chance to listen to any of their releases. This is the first time I get in touch with their music and I can say that these guys are to say the least interesting. They are alive for twelve years and have changed their name two times (they were formerly known as TWILIGHT and then as UNBOUND). Equipped with a raw and heavy production, DEATHBOUND are here to offer their third full-length album.
Their approach to Metal is rather interesting, since they manage to mix NAPALM DEATH style Grindcore with European Death Metal and brutal Thrash. Thus, they create a brutal kind of Metal that can probably please the fans of every extreme Metal scene! I believe that even blacksters will find some elements DEATHBOUND use tempting. One more clue is that even though We Deserve Much Worse contains 18 tracks; its duration is approximately 32 minutes! Not what you expected, huh? One negative thing is that as I said in my review on DEATHCHAIN's latest album, Jaakkola's vocals end up sounding monotonous and kind of empty. For example DEATHCHAIN's previous singer could combine brutality with emotion (in a good way) and make you feel the energy in his voice!
I think that We Deserve Much Worse will be able to keep you interested for some time with its combination of relentless blasting and brutal riffing. To telly you the truth, I felt that it ends up sounding kind of boring after some listening sessions, but after many listening sessions. I think that people who liked NAPALM DEATH's last album will also like DEATHBOUND's brand new Grind/Death/Thrash assault.
