Revengeance

You thought that you've had enough. CONAN had beaten you down so badly on their last album, you couldn't possibly stand another gladiatorial battle against your speakers again. Well guess what? CONAN isn't through with you yet! They have come to seek "Revengeance" and separate the bones from your vulnerable flesh.
CONAN are back to their usual arsenal of the darkest, fuzzed out bass and guitars any human barbarian could possibly handle. And the drums are, in a word... seismic. The essence of CONAN's power lies within the murky colors of the distortion effects. These musical shadows bark and crash forward like a seize weapon, barging through the speaker-shaped castle gates.
Songs like "Thunderhoof", "Wrath Gauntlet" and "Earthenguard" are slower, more flattening themes than songs like "Throne of Fire" and the first half of "Revengeance" which are certainly more ripping percussive grooves. We hear more of the high-pitched wails from bassist Phil Coumbe on this record than on "Blood Eagle". He appears prominently on songs like "Throne of Fire" and "Every Man Is An Enemy". There isn't much, if any, vocals effects like on the last album either.
Everything in the machine that is CONAN seems to be functioning without any hassle. I would personally love to perform music like this myself so I can only imagine how much fun it is for the guys in CONAN to be living the dream. I still think it's pretty crazy how obscure this band is when you listen to how awesome they are and how strong their tones go. As cheesy as their name can be, the music is free of cheese. Yeah, these riffs are R-rated and cannot be handled by anyone without the maturity and the balls.
"Revengeance" is just another battle that has been waged, and won, by the mighty CONAN. Although, if I really had to nitpick, it wasn't exactly as memorable as "Blood Eagle" but that margin is very thin. Regardless, this album was monstrously enjoyable to listen to and if you haven't given CONAN a listen to before, jump on it now. You may be surprised to find that you will also enjoy it.
