Revelations
City Of Tyrants

Hailing from the mystical land of New Jersey comes the Melodic Death Metal band CITY OF TYRANTS. Their album "Revelations" is about as badass as they come. Fantastic Vocals and wonderfully written music. I was fortunate enough to be able to pick this band to review and I am extremely excited to write this. I had been on a quest to find a band just like this and lo and behold this epic album is laid on my lap. The first track is just a twenty five second intro that leads the way into "Insurrection". This song is absolutely incredible and definitely has a hint of Djent mixed with Deathcore and a little bit of Metalcore. The Vocals are performed by Charles Horning and Drummer Kevin Michael. And let me tell you that they are fucking beautiful and intense.
The third track is called "Astral Projection" and this is the first song I heard from them. Beauty In chaos is the first thing to come to my mind when I heard it. I absolutely love this song and had it on repeat for quite some time. The Drumming is phenomenal as well as the Guitar work played by Chingkhei Akoijam and Ed Tyler. The transition from Death to the Melodic parts are seamless. I suggest listening to this one first so you can get an idea of how the entire album is.
The fourth song "Bloodlines" keeps up the pace of the album and is just as good as the previous songs. The main difference is that Bassist Josh Palmer absolutely shines through on this one. I would pay a ton of money to see this song played live. I really hope they go on tour and have a date near me because this band is fucking fantastic. They remind me of SOILWORK a little if they included a bit of Djent in their music. The fifth track "Awakening" will make you want to tear down whatever place you happen to be in when it starts. This song is by far one of the best on the album. It goes hard even in the clean parts and I fucking love it.
"NARAKA" is the sixth and second to last song on the album. I do believe that this word stands for a place of torment and torture and or Hell. Not sure if that's why they used it but either way this song is brilliant! From start to finish I was banging my head. And the breakdown at the end is brutal as fuck! This is by far one of my favorite on the album. Alas we have arrived at the final song on "Revelations". This song is mainly a Melodic song but don't let that fool you into thinking that it's any less amazing than any other song on the album. The clean Vocals are incredible! I think this is the best way they could have ended this magnificent album. They are probably going to blow up very soon and I am glad I will be able to watch as they grow and become even more of an awesome band. I will be blasting this until they release a new album for sure! Not a single bad song and every second is worth listening to. Keep up the great work guys!
