Cannibal Corpse - The Wretched Spawn album cover

Ahhh...fresh meat! The ''platinum''(their discography has sold over 1000000 copies all over the world) cannibals are back with a vengeance bringing along their new disasterpiece, an album-surprise to the dedicated fans which squashes and dries in the air any doubt after the simply satisfactory(and stagnant) ''Gore Obsessed''.
''The wretched spawn'' is a courageous step forward for a band known for it's persistence in -straight in the face- brutal Death Metal. An album truly varicolored with the most bizarre, paranoid riffs the band has ever come up with! Just try listening to ''Psychotic Precision'' or even the homonymous song (with the courtesy of Morbid Angel) and feel the wind of change, what really progress means for a band already acknowledged, which isn't afraid to move far away from the standards itself has set. The sense of the unexpected is diffusive here, ''steamroller'' songs with groovy passes, sick solos that funnily enough give you the impression that they couldn't be written in any other way, old school attitude ''Festering In The Crypt'' or else -Autopsy we miss you-) and so many other elements that justify Cannibal Corpse's domination in the genre.
Of course some things always remain the same, like Neil Kernon's crystal clear production which allows the listener to sustain all the details that make the difference and gain the impressions. We are talking about a DEVASTATING sound, undoubtedly a trademark in all C.C. releases, but here it exceeds all expectations. Special reference should be made to the savage (sorry I just can't call him vocalist) behind the microphone, G.Fisher, who is in great shape. His articulation is better than ever and if we (at last) stop comparing him, unfairly, to Chris Barnes we will recognize his indisputable talent.
So..is this album worth buying? Are you f*****g kiddin' me?!? This is their 9th album and they still seem inexhaustible from new ideas and full of appetite to extend the limits of the genre. Are you wondering if they can achieve that? The answer is...go to the nearest music store, get ''The wretched spawn'' and brake every god damn bone in your head from headbanging. With every severity...
