A metalhead can easily claim that America's Florida is as far from Norway as Florida's Death Metal is from Norway's Black Metal scene. That's basically true but in every rule there is an exception. That exception has a name in this case and it's called Blood Red Throne and their newest album Altered Genesis.
When back in 1998, both Tchort (ex-Emperor) and Dod played with Satyricon, they decided, due to their common interest in Death Metal, to form the retro Death Metal band, Blood Red Throne. Monolith Of Death was the debut album recorded in Dub Studios in Kristiansand under the production of Endre Kirkesola. The second album, Affiliated With The Suffering saw the light of day in 2003 and that time the band signed a deal with Earache Records (Deicide, Morbid Angel, Hate Eternal etc.)
Altered Genesis starts with an intro and while entering the first real track, the mutilation begins. It's a chaotic combination of Death Metal drumming and Thrash Metal riffs mixed with exceptional brutal, guttering vocals. Arterial Lust is definitely one of my picks from the album; raw, straightforward and bloody brutal. It seems that Tchort (who also released the new Green Carnation album this year) together with the rest of the band, created a Death Metal massacre that can break any neck and make any Death metalhead's ears bleed.
It's difficult for me to describe with any other words this release, other than to say that Altered Genesis is a must have record for every one of you who is into brutal Death Metal. Hot, hellish Floridian Death Metal from the icy mountains of Norway...
