July 21, 2014
A few weeks after its official release on CD & digital formats, the brand new self-titled album by Utopium is available right now for full streaming. After almost five year of silence or some kind of "hiatus", Utopium are back to business this spring with a new effort recorded last year. At the same time, the band also shot an official music video for the song Stardust (more than 100,000 views in a year) still available on YouTube.

Utopium is an international four-piece indie-rock/post-rock/experimental band based in Paris and Toronto. It was founded in the end of the nineties, with members coming from Russia, Mexico and France.Their debut EP recorded in London in 2000 was acclaimed by French media as one of the most promising rock acts of the year. After their second EP and several years of concerting, Utopium released their first full-length album called "No Memory Man" where post-rock influences become more apparent, although the frequent use of 'wall of sound' also suggests comparisons with the 'shoegazing' scene.
In spring 2008 the band went to Toronto to record their second full-length named "Doubleplusgood" and released through the Dutch label 'Planet of Sounds' in February 2009. In the meantime, the band toured extensively in France, Europe, and Asia. After a hiatus of several years, Utopium return with a new self-titled album out on Apirl 2014 on CD and digital. The vinyl version is scheduled to be released next autumn.
