STREET SECTS: Premiere "Blacken the Other Eyes" music video
November 3, 2017
Mere weeks following the release of their groundbreaking 12-inch Rat Jacket, Street Sects have released a stirring video for their track "Blacken The Other Eye." Gravely and cryptic, the video was directed by Todd Pendu and reflects the hardcore industrial duo's relentlessly brackish worldview. Stream the video today via Revolver Magazine who said it "channel(s) torture films" here.
Continuing to redefine both themselves and the post-industrial canon, Rat Jacket finds Street Sects at their most scathing. Not quite a follow-up to their 2016 LP End Position, the 4-song gambit roils through a din of brisk samples and melodic turbulence. Still holding fast to their sample-based bedrock, these four new tracks experiment with opulent melodies and organic instrumentation. True to Street Sects' fascination with emotional tumult, Rat Jacket plunges into themes of loyalty, trust, betrayal, paranoia, and man's innate selfishness. If End Position was a bullet to the head, then Rat Jacket is a knife in the back.
Rat Jacket is out now via The Flenser. While the duo recently wrapped an expansive tour in support of hip-hop/noise pioneers Dälek, more updates are forthcoming.
