InsideOut Music lead the way at the Progressive Music Awards 2013
September 16, 2013
Last week UK's Prog Magazine held the second annual Progressive Music Awards at the beautiful Kew Gardens in London. Progressive rock record label InsideOutMusic had a very successful night, bagging themselves four awards, including the Limelight Award for best new bandSound of Contact, and the Virtuoso award for Transatlantic's Mike Portnoy.
Steve Hackett celebrated a win in the Best Event category for his much celebrated Genesis Revisited tour and album, and more specifically the Hammersmith Apollo show in London which is due to be released as a live CD/DVD on the 21st October. Steve has had an extremely busy and successful past 12 months, and in October he will play at the legendary Royal Albert Hall in London.
One of the most special awards of the night goes by the name of Guiding Light, celebrating those people who keep the genre alive. Last year it was awarded to Steven Wilson, and this year InsideOutMusic label founder and president Thomas Waber was presented with this brilliant accolade. Commenting on the labels success over the years, this is what he had to say:
'It's an honor to follow in Steven's footsteps who received the Guiding Light award last year. Against the trend of the overall music business we seem to be going from strength to strength at the moment and have to thank our many artists for still delivering some of their best work to date and making our job easy in return. I also have to thank my team around the world for fighting for these artists day in day out! The job of a record company is to enable, hopefully that is exactly what we are doing. Congratulations to Sound Of Contact, Steve Hackett and Mike Portnoy for their awards!'
This is an apt award for the InsideOut Music founder, as the label celebrates its 20th Anniversary of existence this year, and having already started celebrations with special tours featuring bands such as The Flower Kings, Neal Morse, Spock's Beard, Sound of Contact and Beardfish. From September onwards the label will also be running a special campaign to highlight its vast and brilliant catalogue.
