HEADCRUSHER: Comments On Let The Blood Run/Black Burning Skies Artwork
May 27, 2014
HeadCrusher will soon make available the first physical release of its albums "Let The Blood Run" and "Burning Black Skies." Both recordings have been combined into one vinyl via Sporarecordz, which the label has a distribution contract with. In addition to possessing a bruising sound, the record features sanguinary artwork by renowned extreme metal artist, Jon Zig. Zig is best known for creating illustrations for a vast array of artists including, Disgorge, Suffocation, Deeds of Flesh, Hod and drew the logo for The Black Dahlia Murder. Vocalist Kike comments on the artwork:
"I wanted to represent our motto "From the Mountains of Colombia" for this cover. Colombia has some quite exotic natural spots. Its wilderness is pretty unique, and I find it very aggressive. There are areas of country that are still untouched by humans and rivers like rio Cristales that at distance looks bloody red. So I thought about this devilish looking mountain pouring blood. Then, the rest of the guys added the rest of the elements as the beast and the tribe of men worshiping it. I think it was David [Coloma, guitar] who presented all these elements to Jon Zig and he came up with this sick painting. We were stoked about it since the first time we saw it. He really got the vibe of our collective thoughts."
Bloody-Disgusting.com recently premiered a video for the track "Nonsense" taken from "Let The Blood Run/Black Burning Skies" double vinyl album. The clip was produced and directed by Michale Panduro of Siegfried Productions (Cephalic Carnage, Rotten Sound, Saint Vitus, Job For A Cowboy) in Copenhagen, Denmark.
HeadCrusher was "born in Colombia and made in Texas." The band has taken large strides since moving to Austin via Colombia in 2008, releasing two critically acclaimed full-length and EP recordings that bridge the gap between Sweden and South America, old school thrash and modern metal movements. The band has become a fixture in the local Austin metal scene playing festivals such as SXSW and Texas Independence Fest. They have shared the stage with such vaunted acts as Suicidal Tendencies, Dillinger Escape Plan, Shadows Fall, Mushroom Head, Lazarus A.D, Allegaeon, Motograter, and played the metal cruise, Barge To Hell. Having worked with the likes of Tue Madsen (The Haunted, Behemoth, Dark Tranquility) and Juan Urteaga (Exodus, Testament, Machine Head), every release yields top-notch audio.
