October 2, 2012
Austin, TX metal band EAGLE CLAW will release its sophomore album Timing of the Void on October 30 via ECH Records. The follow up to the group's 2010 debut Poacher, Timing of the Void was recorded at Folkvang Studios and produced by Bryan Richie of fellow ATX metalheads The Sword. Featuring eight monolithic tracks of the quartet's fist-raising "InstruMetal", the record's title and overarching theme is based on The Book of Five Rings, a text on kenjutsu and the martial arts written by Japanese swordsman Miyamoto Musashi circa 1645. Today, Revolver premieres the new EAGLE CLAW track "Fifth Ring" - check out the huge sounding song now at this location!
Immediately upon the release of Timing of the Void, EAGLE CLAW will hit the road for a U.S. tour as special guests of The Sword. The tour will launch on October 29 in Corpus Christi, TX and run through November 24 in Baton Rouge, LA. Thought by many to be one of the best metal bands to rise from Austin's stellar music scene in quite some time, EAGLE CLAW now prepares to unleash its compelling song craft and electric live show on music fans nationwide.
In a recent news item published on EAGLE CLAW, the Austin Chronicle wrote, "Like Musashi, the local quartet's instrumentals are dually Zen and violent, and their timing and attack is martial. Not just a titular reference, the swordsman's lessons are the basis for the music on Timing of the Void." While hoards of hard rock and metal bands dilute their craft with less than stellar vocals, EAGLE CLAW prefers to let its powerful music do the talking. The band's twin leads call to mind early Metallica and Iron Maiden as its laser-sharp rhythm section cuts through the night sky.
