Thrash pioneers ANTHRAX have started work on their first new album since 2003.

In a recent interview, guitarist Scott Ian said: "We're almost ready to go. Eight things are recorded and we've only got to go back and re-record two or three things. And Joey's singing on all of it."

Joey Belladonna is back in the band for his third stint as frontman after replacing John Bush, who in turn had replaced Dan Nelson last year.

ANTHRAX have been touring with METALLICA, MEGADETH and SLAYER as part of the 'Big Four' tour. It's thought that the four thrash titans will be hitting the road once together again next year.
