The phrase out of the darkness and into the light isn't merely by Kreator, it has a much deeper meaning when a person attempts to overcome hardship. It is not about escaping from a certain fate, but challenging one's self in order not to have a written future. Finding ways out of the dark, there is the positivity that lies within the Swedish Freternia Metallers. Recently releasing their new "The Final Stand", they proved that their conviction is might and their Metal is just. Steinmetal had a nice chat with the band's Tomas Wäppling about the album, coming back after Covid and more…
Getting back together as a band doesn't always mean that the whole pack is going for it. Like everything in our lives, there are these inner politics within people, at times resulting into partnerships to be dissolved. The legendary old schoolers Leatherwolf, similar to a handful of bands that have been coming back, suffered from the same thing, but eventually returned. Luckily for the world of Metal that their music triumphed. Recently releasing their new "Kill The Hunted", the knives are sharper then even, as well as the band's precision. Steinmetal had a good talk with the veteran Dean Roberts about the new record.
German Death Metal institution ATROCITY released their third and final part of the "Okkult" trilogy in January 2023. Formed in 1988, ATROCITY released 11 albums, five EPs and a DVD during their career. "Okkult III" is surely the most sumptuous release of the band. Vocalist Alexander Krull is the mastermind not only behind ATROCITY, but also behind symphonic Folk Metal band LEAVES' EYES. Metal Temple writer Thomas Kumke had the opportunity to talk to Alex reflecting on the ATROCITY history, the development and concept of the Okkult trilogy, and about the new album.
With the release of his tenth studio album "Double Exposure" and being a member of two of the most influential bands in rock history, UFO and Alice Cooper, Vinnie Moore once again proves why his name is always included in the discussion of "great rock guitarists". METAL TEMPLE writer Fred Bonanno had the opportunity to ask Vinnie a few questions about the new album and his impressive career. Check out Fred's review of "Double Exposure" under "latest reviews" from January 23.
Barcelona's ARCHETYPE X is a band that could be called any number of styles or put into several different genres. Their sound is filled with a lot of influences and variety, everything from melodic death to progressive. Their new album "Regression," was released in November 2022 and is a sterling display of their prowess. Metal Temple writer Justin Wittenmeier recently interviewed them on a variety of subjects, finding out what makes them tick.
Think about this way, about nowadays being persecuted by being fresh with a brand new idea, a kind of idea with a potential to break borders and create new waves. When it comes to mankind's history, especially in a religious aspect, new ideas were never a cup of tea, or liked to be blunt about it. Shaping up a story about being unorthodox, there is the Greek Doomocracy, a Metal band that enough Doom its fists that they also harbour more than meets the ear. With the release of their new album, "Unorthodox", Steinmetal had a good talk with Michael Stavrakakis to tell the story of the record and more…
Thy Listless Heart
Take the chance today or else regret it tomorrow. Why not start something that the heart years for so long? That is a big question, as life are unexpected, at least not always like that, so maybe that question is in order. Seventh Angel's Simon Bibby, which is also the sole creator of the new Doom Metal project, Thy Listless Heart, thought that it was about time to take that step, and fulfil a vision. He did that quite well by releasing the latter's debut record, "Pilgrims on the Path of No Return". With the echoes of the musical past not as an influence, Bibby was able to create his own new universe, and it comes in an interesting shape. Steinmetal had to know more…
Unlike a lot that have been stating that mankind has to be saved, redeemed, or rather to succumb to its own fate of destruction and chaos, there is another perspective that is in need of a thought. To think that people can unite under a single banner, and restore their future, as a world, as a whole, now that is extraordinary. To have faith in people isn't something that can be bought, it has to be believed in. Circling around the latest Galderia band, which recently returned, and their new "Endless Horizon" album, Steinmetal took a shot and talked with the band's veteran, Sebastian Chabot.
The far future may look bleak, but there is no guarantee to that. Sci-Fi has been teaching us that the possibilities are endless, and not always under the control of the populace. And that what brings in The German vintage Metal, say Hard Rock, say Heavy Rock, Midnight Rider. With the disbandment of Metal Inquisitor, guitarist, Jochen Blumenthal, turned his full attention to the former, a band that already started something that is a little different than usual. The band's latest album "Beyond the Blood Red Horizon" is already out, and it was important for Steinmetal to know more…
Kieran Robertson is the brilliant and charismatic lead guitarist for one of the most legendary voices in metal history, Geoff Tate and his solo band OPERATION MINDCRIME. Kieran hails from the beautiful country of Scotland where he first picked up a guitar and found his calling in life, entertaining the world with his music. Being fortunate enough to know Kieran on a personal level, Metal Temple writer Fred Bonanno was able to spend some time with him while on his holiday break from his hectic touring schedule and answer a few questions.
Mark Daly and The Ravens
Irish rocker Mark Daly, thanks to supporting acts such as GEOFF TATE and CANDLEBOX, appearing on the MONSTERS OF ROCK cruise and releasing his four song EP, understandably has been getting noticed. Mark's sound is raw, energetic rock music that has influences from classic rock bands, but also appreciates a modern rock sound with a blend of both. METAL TEMPLE writer Fred Bonanno had the opportunity to let our readers get to know a little more about Mark, his band and what lies ahead.
The word "genius" is probably tossed around too easily in describing musicians and their work, but in this case, it's a perfect fit, GEOFF TATE, the gifted singer and songwriter that has helped create some of the most ICONIC work in heavy metal while a member of QUEENSRYCHE and now his solo band OPERATION MINCRIME. Metal Temple writer Fred Bonanno was able to sit down over a few glasses of wine from Geoff's own wine company INSANIA and talk about his remarkable career and a few off-the- wall topics as well.
ACID BLADE is a power metal band hailing from Dresden, Germany, that delivers old school NWOBHM on the release of their debut album "Power Dive". Metal Temple writer Fred Bonanno was able to interview the bands guitar player Luke Lethal on the album and where the band is headed in 2023 and beyond.
Legions Of The Night
Without any contemplation, the negative side of life has been part of the Legions Of The Night band. As if on an exploration, it appears that there is a lot to be covered by the band's leaders, Jens Faber, and Henning Basse. Out with the second album, "Hell", and things are getting intense, darker and with a Savatage homage in mind. Steinmetal had a great pleasure to talk with Faber once again about the album experience, a little bit about Covid and more…
As a band's founder, it is never easy to have beside you the right people that will go with you to the ends of the Earth in order for your baby to succeed. Nevertheless, and other than trusting only yourself, things can happen, and the die-harders can be found and become one with the vision. The German Metallers, Starchild, led by Sandro Giampietro, have a challenge over the years, yet the dream never stopped. Coming up with the new album, "Battle Of Eternity", things started to heat up, with a lot of a to put out for the public to digest. Steinmetal had a good talk with Sandro about the experience.
As if they never really left, never really disbanded, just went into a deep slumber and just knew when to return. Timing is everything as it seems, and right when Traditional Metal is back to its rightful recognition, among the many sub-genres under Metal music. The US Heavy Metal band Incursion, hasn't been around much since their disbandment in 1986, returning just before Covid in 2020, was the flick of the switch the lit match to restart everything. With the release of their debut album, "Blinding Force", Steinmetal had to find out more from the band's veteran, Michael Lashinsky.
Dutch death-influenced thrash band INFANTRY dropped their second-full length album "Terminal Society" back in August. It's a slab of militant, aggressive no-holds-barred metal that questions man's ability to live without death, hatred and destruction and finds that the answer is a resounding NO. Metal Temple writer SJ Loschi had the opportunity to discuss INFANTRY's quest for world domination with their bass player Andrea Serra.
Every aspect of life can be written into becoming a song, well that is pretty much a known fact, and there shouldn't always be a fine line that unites the songs. When it comes to the band Bark, and their new album, "Rambler Of Aeons", it is about a memorial, remembering people that were dear and passed away. Nonetheless, there is enough dealing with present troubles to have one digesting bit by bit. Steinmetal had a chance to talk with Martin Furia of the band, also part of the German Thrashers, Destruction, about the new album, signing with a label, musical development and more…
Riccardo Toni & Ivan Adami
When the dust settles, there is a light that shines through, with the capability to banish the leftover damage and inflict hope on those in need. That can be rendered as a utopian state of mind, or thought, but it is rather logical. Hope was never for sale, nor will it ever be, it has to be longed for and believed in. The Italian Power Metallers of Stranger Vision find comfort in the notion that hope exists and it can be reached. Inspired to create their new album "Wasteland", another journey is underway, with a lot to discover about mankind and more. Steinmetal had another talk with Riccardo Toni and Ivan Adami about the nature of the new album and how Stranger Vision changed.
Timor Et Tremor
To rise up again, and to become stronger, not every person can do it, needless to say, survive what lies ahead. It is a matter of will, the motivation to become better even if there is chance to falter. Taking on the pagan approach towards the extremity of the blackened arts of Metal music, there is Timor Et Tremor. There is a variety of things that can be experienced through their music, and their new album "Realm Of Ashes" is a pure reflection of what is going on in a lot of people's lives, the fall, and the rise from the ashes. Steinmetal had a nice chat with Martin of the band, stay tuned.
Alex Rossi is a one man, musical machine from Tuscany, Italy. His latest band KONQUEST released their second album "Time and Tyranny" in October of 2022 (see Metal Temple revew from November 7, rated 9/10) where Alex wrote and sings all the songs, plays all the instruments as well as all studio mixing. Despite his hectic schedule, Alex was able to take some time and answer a few questions for writer Fred Bonanno.
Everything goes in today's world, in particular in music, as long as a song sounds good, there would be nothing in its path, other than joining a long picket line of competition for people's ears. Hailing to a new era of their careers, the Belgium Thrash Metal band, After All, returns with a new skinman and one heck of a singer. The release of "Eos" just came through, with a lot of positivity going on the After All camp. Steinmetal had a good talk with guitarist Christophe Depree about the new album, recruiting of the needed musicians and more…
VICTORIA K is a symphonic Metal band formed in 2019 by Australian vocalist and songwriter Victoria Knight. After having a successful start with releasing the debut album "Essentia" and subsequently signing to Italian Metal label Rockshots Records, the pandemic did not stop Victoria in writing new music, and in October 2022 the concept album "Kore" has been released which is built around the Greek mythology. Good reasons for Metal Temple writer Thomas Kumke to talk to Victoria about the beginnings of VICTORIA K, the new album and the concept behind, and many more topics.
The end is nigh, deterioration is at work, perhaps not at its peak, but it is there, smiling with an evil grimace. Whether true or not, mankind is walking the plank, yet nobody really knows how long is that fragile wooden plank. It is up to the people to wake up and smell the roses, or the bad smell in order to wake up. Hailing from Vienna, Austria, the Melodic Death Metal band, Vermocracy, aren't really optimistic, and their new album, "Age Of Dysphoria", shows just that. Steinmetal had to know more and had a talk with the band's Andreas Huber, stay tuned.
Blind The Eye
Imperialism in the sign of the times. The Roman Empire might have always been represented as a totem to what defines imperialism, its iconic nature and vision has been serving as a statement and a learning foundation. Today, things are different, democracy is there, yet at times fragile. The Portuguese Metallers, Blind The Eye, have been circling around the idea within their new album, "The Lion Of Lions", exploring and referring to the present. Steinmetal had a good talk with Ramiur Sekh about his side of the story and more…
Shock Waves will vibrate through dark days as the Ruler Of The Wasteland herself, Leather Leone releases her third, and best Solo effort November 25th. She takes back control of her band by using her voice of the cult to deliver a diversified album full of melodic inspiration. For those who dare partake in the Mystery Of Illusion, join Michael Francisco and Leather in a very engaging conversation.
Kåre André Sletteberg
In The Woods…
Being different, making a difference in being different than earlier, channeling something new to the world in order to show change. Whether it is for the better or worse, that is for every listener to decide and reflect upon. It appears that the ego element dropped when the Norwegian In The Woods… is concerned. A changing of the guard can actually do that. With the release of their new album, "Diversum", there are a lot of emotions bursting, enough to empty from a darkened soul. Steinmetal was able to chat with guitarist Kåre André Sletteberg about the new record and the experience.
Cam Mesmer & Al Lester
To strive for something, and make an effort, there is always a price to be paid, whether it is time or simply doing other things that do not concern the deed done. Is there a right or wrong here, there is none actually, it is simply how it feels. The Canadian duo of Heavy Metal and Hard Rock, Spell, following the success of their previous album, deliver a shout out to the early 80s with "Tragic Magic". Steinmetal had a chance to have a talk with Cam Mesmer and Al Lester about the new album, the general feel of the record and more.
Rock Solid Talent Entertainment
Phil Taylor is the co founder and owner of the highly successful record label company Rock Solid Talent Entertainment. He has been in the industry for a long lot of years now but has NEVER given an interview to any magazine, not that they haven't asked him on many occasions. Today Metal Temple's Co-Editor In Chief Jojo "Rocket Queen" Hamilton has the pleasure of being in his company as he very graciously offered her a weeks working holiday at his home where Phil will be giving you a sneak peak into his very busy life in his first & only interview and not only that, I got to sit through a video call between Phil & Mark S Berry Chairman of AMG.
Why be so grim, why think about the end of everything when things are still standing? There have been countless of prediction to what will eventually happen to our world in the future, the end of humanity, the end of everything that we hold dear and love. Is it up to mankind to decide its fate? It is possible, but when will people open up their eyes? Hopefully, not at the brink of destruction. In light of their new record, "A Complex Divinity", Steinmetal had a great chance to talk with Infidel Rising's vocalist, Travis Wills, about philosophical venture of the record, songwriting, music and more…
Sascha Heese & Andreas Bauer
Taking a walk on the wild side, and it can be done without somebody asking, it is just a flow, a process, being done with patience and a lot of passion. When comes to the German Unchained Horizon, it was once when they implemented modernity to their favour, making a fusion with their old tastes into a new form. Nonetheless, their new album, "Fallen Kingdom", shows that there is no place like home, the origins, and tradition, and there you have a full blown Heavy Metal albums. Steinmetal had a chance to talk with founder Sascha Heese, and the new guy, Andreas Bauer, about the album, the experience and more…
Jelizaveta 'Eissa' Zovnercuka & Kristians Konovalovs
MORPHIDE hailing from Copenhagen, Denmark started making music in 2015. Originally coming from Latvia, the duo plays a mix of alternative and progressive Metal and "Anhedonia" is their debut album. With influences from bands like JINJER, SPIRITBOX, or TESSERACT, "Anhedonia" has all the ingredients to become one of the album highlights in 2022. A good reason for Metal Temple writer Thomas Kumke to talk to Eissa and Kris about the beginnings of the band, their development as musicians, the album, and many more topics.
There is never a tiring moment for busy bees, always working, creating stuff in order to be used for later, or mainly fulfilling themselves by continuously being busy. Dan Lorenzo, which has been constantly on the vibe with his creations, doesn't appear to stop, and that is good. After making moves with a variety of projects, there is one that has been around for years, and it just popped a new album, and the name is Cassius King. Titled "Dread The Dawn", which is actually the band's sophomore, brings back good memories of old Doom and Hard Rock. Steinmetal had to chat again with Lorenzo to understand the record better, and the work with Jason McMaster.
Whether it was a big miss or not, time will tell. Nonetheless, on the short run, the end result is already there, and turned out to be glorious. Prior to fronting the new Hard Rock / Heavy Metal band Scream Taker, Jim Crean had a great opportunity to go on. Nonetheless, the pandemic happened and all the planning gone to shambles. Even so, sitting on one's hands wasn't an option and there you have Scream Taker. Just recently releasing their debut album, "Kill The Beautiful", Crean talked with Steinmetal about the foundation, working with Vinny Appice and Steph Honde, and of course, the album.
