On November 9, 2010, DANZIG released a limited-edition 12-inch vinyl version of the band's latest album, "Deth Red Sabaoth", with a color lyric sleeve. It was limited to 2,000 copies on black vinyl and 1,000 copies on red vinyl.
The first new DANZIG studio album in six years, "Deth Red Sabaoth", sold 11,700 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 35 on The Billboard 200 chart.
"Deth Red Sabaoth" was released on June 22 via Evilive/The End Records. Produced by Glenn, the CD was recorded in Los Angeles over the course of 2009.
Joining vocalist Glenn Danzig in the studio for the recording of "Deth Red Sabaoth" were guitarist Tommy Victor (PRONG, MINISTRY), a Danzig cohort on and off since 1996, and drummer Johnny Kelly (TYPE O NEGATIVE, SEVENTH VOID). While Kelly has toured with Glenn intermittently since 2002, this is the first time he has recorded with the band. Glenn handled the bass chores for most the album, and played drums on "Black Candy".
"Blackacidevil" was originally released in 1996 and reissued in 2000, but has since been out of print and a highly sought after piece in DANZIG's catalog. Now Evilive Records has announced the release of this limited-edition version of "Danzig 5: Blackacidevil". The run features two different color covers, brown and purple, and an embossed slipsleeve. These 5,000 copies are a one-time limited run and will be available first-come-first-served. Once they are gone, they are gone and this limited edition version will never be manufactured again.
"Danzig 5: Blackacidevil" is the first album recorded by DANZIG after the band's departure from Rick Rubin's American Recordings. The album features vocalist Glenn Danzig playing guitars, bass and keyboards, Joey Castillo (QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE) on drums and Jerry Cantrell of ALICE IN CHAINS playing guitar on the tracks "See All You Were", "Come To Silver" and "Hand Of Doom: Version" (BLACK SABBATH cover). Three new songs - "Deeper", "Bleedangel" and "Don't Be Afraid" - are also included.
