Deathcult - Tyrant Of All Tyrants album cover

Chicago is a city famous for having several names on the undergound scenery of Black and Death Metal bands, and within that scenario we find DEATHCULT, a band formed in 2009 that seeks to maintain the tradition of Black metal in its raw form, with small insertions of elements of Thrash Metal.

Tim Pearson is responsible for everything here that is, vocal and instruments. Counting on eight songs and almost half hour of listening, the album has a good production and a somewhat primitive mix what I believe to be Pearson's intention to maintain the impression of the genre in its beginning.

"Revenge of the Trashman" opens the darkness path to Satanism and Occultism themes. The initial track counts with some tempo changes, an aggressive vocal in some points the excessive repetition of the refrain arrives to annoy a little. The introduction of "Nectar of Gods" is practically a continuation of the first song. The track is taken practically in a single rhythm which makes it a bit monotonous; these mistakes are usually recurring in one man band I do not know whether due to the skill with all the instruments or if they really take the brand of their creator.

A song whose name is the same as the album "Tyrant Of All Tyrants" is the first highlight, a fast and very angry rhythm, good variations, some different combinations between the instruments began to give promising signs. Again the beginning of "Succubus" fits like extension of the previous song, and although the variation is smaller here the vocal stands out forming a beautiful composition.

"Betrayer", the longest track on the album and my favorite contains a very melodic and well-crafted rhythm and then its break for the entrance of a catchy catch more towards its end. While performing nothing new on the scene, DEATHCULT'S second full length album "Tyrant Of All Tyrants" is a good job. Yes it has its ups and downs, some points to improve but in summary is very concise.
