Demon Ways Of Sorcery

Orthodox Black Metal always had its extreme occult side with all the demonic Black Metal projects taking inspiration from countless satanic circles (DISSECTION being a prime example), and implementing the raw sound that fends off unwanted strangers and pleases those who enjoy the genre. I think FRONT BEAST's latest LP "Demon Ways of Sorcery" is the perfect match to fit this description, and while being a somewhat mediocre album, it managed to sound interesting.
FRONT BEAST is a project by Avenger, the one and only person shrieking and playing riffs behind that studio mic. The project's been active since 1999, so out of curiosity I sampled a bit from each of his splits and demos and to my surprise it was beyond enjoyable. Everything, despite being lo-fi, sounded very pleasing and orthodox. Almost reminded of the underrated Lord Foul if you ask me, and this isn't something I always feel when listening to underground Black Metal music.
However, despite all that "Demon Ways of Sorcery" isn't something I'd put up on the underground classics shelf, and the reason for that is the utmost mediocrity for an album released in 2013. True, this subgenre isn't expected to undergo a massive evolution, but it could at least start sounding a little catchier and more raw and a clone of something else I could have swore sounded exactly the same. Ugh... you get my point.
Not going to give this a track by track review, because I could say the same thing about every track. FRONT BEAST does a decent job and offers a respectable album for the right area of fans in this realm of Metal, but nothing that deserves more than a 7/10.
If you're a Black Metal freak and you don't wanna miss out, get this right away.
