review
Myrholt - Blandede Meninger Og Aforismer
December 16, 2024
All in all,
Myrholt
’s “
Blandede Meninger Og Aforismer
,” is a wonderfully balanced album between two different approaches to black metal and effectively combines them together with interesting songs.
review
Grave With A View - Raw Illumination
December 16, 2024
GRAVE WITH A VIEW
have upped their game with “
Raw Illumination
,” and have solidified themselves as a force to be reckoned with in the black metal scene. This is a strong sophomore album from a band that shows endless promise because they thrive in the endless void.

review
Djevel - Natt til ende
December 9, 2024
DJEVEL
’s “
Natt til ende
,” is an impressively bleak album that is just as engaging with its atmospheric side. This album will please fans of more straightforward blackened tendencies as well as people who want a little more depth to their black metal.
review
Blasphemous – To Lay Siege and Conquer
December 8, 2024
I can’t say “To Lay Siege and Conquer” is a terribly inventive album, but it is consistent. If you like your Blackened Death Metal with no spoiler influences like Symph or Atmospheric, this album might be your poison.
review
Nigrum – Blood Worship Extremism
December 8, 2024
“Blood Worship Extremism” delivers exactly what it promises: blood worship extremism—all wrapped up in lo-fi, brutal FW Black Metal.
review
Unholdun - Fœhn
December 8, 2024
All in all, UNHOLDUN’s “Fœhn,” is a solid if unremarkable album. It provides an entertaining 42 minutes of bleak, frozen black metal but after the ride is over, there isn’t much reason for a return trip.

review
Panzerchrist - Maleficium - Part 1
December 2, 2024
PANZERCHRIST
is a band that has always been very dependable, providing one solid release after another. Much remains the same for this latest album–while it certainly isn’t mind blowing or trying to reinvent the wheel, it’s a solid effort from a band that is the definition of “what you see is what you get.” With that being said it’s infectious and engaging enough to take a return trip.

Auriferous Flame – The Insurrectionists and the Caretakers
December 2, 2024
For all the Extreme Black Metal true believers out there, I highly recommend this one

Summoning the old spirits under the spells of the Shaman Witch
December 2, 2024
Since years in the past, the capital of Brazil revealed names that practice unusual (and excellent) ways into Metal genres. And the veteran MIASTHENIA is always one relevant name since the days they came with “XVI”, telling histories and old tales about Pre-Colombian civilizations of America. And with “Espíritos Rupestres”, the band gives another step ahead, using a central concept for the lyrics, and showing a new lineup. Then, we had the opportunity to talk with the band to known about the past, the present and future ambitions.

This release shows how Poland still has some great talents on extreme Metal to show.
review
Suidakra - Darkanakrad
November 25, 2024
SUIDAKRA’s “Darkanakrad,” is yet another fantastic album from a band that has been around a long time but, thankfully, shows know sign of slowing down. It has all the hallmarks of a well written album that flows nicely from beginning to end.
review
Misanthropia - Envy the Dead
November 21, 2024
WOW, what a great Melodic Black Metal release!
review
Einst - Einst
November 21, 2024
A fine first release of this Atmospheric Black Metal. If you like the genre, you must hear to it!

The Great Old Ones – Kadath
November 18, 2024
Metalheads and metal artists tend to enjoy exploring obscure corners of the universe. THE GREAT OLD ONES and “Kadath” are perfect examples. Great stuff for metalheads who like their fiction the same way they like their metal—dark, heavy, and highly disturbing.
review
Panzerfaust - The Sons of Perdition - Chapter IV: To Shadow Zion
November 17, 2024
PANZERFAUST
’s “
The Suns of Perdition - Chapter IV: To Shadow Zion
,” returns the band to the top of their game and a sterling example of what music is capable of doing when a band can fully realize their vision and present that vision effectively to its listeners.
review
Paysage D'Hiver - Die Berge
November 17, 2024
All in all,
PAYSAGE D’ HIVE
R’s “
Die Berge
,” is a fantastic atmospheric black metal band that doesn’t sacrifice any hallmarks of the genre in return for such a long, winding, adventure. Despite its length, this is an engaging album that will provide hours of enjoyment as long as you are patient with it to show you what its made of.
review
Horna - Nyx (Hymnejä Yölle)
November 14, 2024
Wow, what a great Black Metal release, showing the band at its peak!
review
Barathrum - Überkill
November 14, 2024
The Finnish Black Metal legend is back with another killing release!
review
The Spirit - Songs Against Humanity
October 28, 2024
“
Songs Against Humanity
” takes THE SPIRIT to the next level and their next logical steps in the discography. I don’t see any reason why fans of the band would not enjoy this album but it’s accessible enough to grab plenty of new fans too.
review
Äera - Phantast
October 28, 2024
ÄERA
’s “
Phantast
,” is, all at the same time, a hard hitting, melodic, atmospheric, adventurous, and clever album that will satisfy any fans of the genre that want more out of their black metal than just raw total satan tropes.
review
Eldingar - Lysistrata
October 28, 2024
All in all,
ELDINGAR
’s “
Lysistrata
,” is a step up from their debut, even if the band still struggles with some filler and balance issues. If they can get out of their own way and find more focus within their sound, their next album will probably be something truly special.
review
Miasthenia - Espíritos Rupestres
October 24, 2024
And the Brazilian Black Metal masters created another Black Metal masterpiece! 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
review
Vulgaris - Seat of the Fire

Infernal Cult - Necessity of Unreal
October 21, 2024
All in all, INFERNAL CULT’s “Necessity of Unreal,” is a nice surprise so close to the end of the year. It’s familiar enough for fans of the genre to be accepting but unique enough to appeal to a wider audience.
review
Declared Dead - Necrodeist
October 15, 2024
Belgium’s
DECLARED DEAD
presents their 2024 LP
"Necrodeist"
, a collection that aims to blend the ferocity of black, death, and thrash metal into a cohesive whole. With ten years of experience under their belts, one might expect a more sophisticated compositional approach, yet much of this album feels like it’s still in the early stages of exploration. Each track has its merits, but the overall sound often lacks the depth and complexity that would elevate it to standout status.
review
Warlust - Sol Invictus in Umbrae Satanae
October 14, 2024
“Sol Invictus in Umbrae Satanae” is probably WARLUST’s best produced, most refined, most melodic album to date but it still sounds visceral as fuck.
review
Koldbrann - Ingen Skånsel
October 10, 2024
The Old Norwegian Black Metal spirit is alive on this full-length!
review
Slaughter Messiah – Excorcized To None
October 8, 2024
“Excorcized To None” is fast, aggressive, and evil. It combines the best of Thrash, Death, and Black Metal
review
Veilburner - The Duality of Decapitation and Wisdom
October 7, 2024
“The Duality of Decapitation and Wisdom,” is as fresh and unique as it is alien and wild. The twisted compositions only get better as the album is played more and more. This is a trip down a rabbit hole that I'll happily get lost in.
review
Eisregen - Abart
October 3, 2024
This mix between Gothic Rock, Death Metal and Black Metal in a Neue Deutsche Härte is really catching.
review
Moral Putrefaction - Moral Putrefaction
September 30, 2024
All in all,
MORAL PUTREFACTION
’s self-titled debut is very strong and it will be interesting to see what the band comes up with next. Fans of cold-as-a-grave death metal will find much here to enjoy but it’s dynamic enough to align with a lot of different tastes.
