“Music can transcend all borders, like politics, religion, culture.” - Anastasia Schebrova, Belle Morte
March 16, 2025
Belle Morte is a symphonic metal band from Minsk, Belarus. On January 24, 2025, they released their third album, "Pearl Hunting," via WormHoleDeath. The band collaborated with 18 musicians from 12 countries, integrating diverse musical influences into their unique approach to symphonic metal. Gary Hernandez, writer and editor for Metal Temple, caught up with vocalist Anastasia Schebrova to discuss the band’s origins, the making of "Pearl Hunting," and a range of other topics from Anastasia’s playlist to the metal scene in Belarus to the band’s future plans.

Crypts Of Despair – We Belong In The Grave
March 10, 2025
“We Belong In The Grave” is a fine mixture of brutal Death Metal and Deathcore, driven by punishing guitar riffs and relentless drumming. The album is an excellent blend of grim atmospheres and aggressive pummelling of the listener

Black .44 – Bloodlines
March 5, 2025
Although this was a simple sound, it had enough ummph and energy to it, you can’t help but like it and get caught up in some of the aggression and melodies. Not all music has to be overly complicated.

Tyran - Tyran’s Oath

Grave Digger – Bone Collector
January 27, 2025
GRAVE DIGGER’s Bone Collector is a casket full of bone-cold metal. Nothing too groundbreaking, but when you’ve been playing at the heavy metal table for 45 years, consistency trumps innovation.
review
Eigenstate Zero – Shape of God Though of Sun
January 27, 2025
For me, the album was like a caged tiger in the zoo who is let free only to perform in front of an audience. Make no mistake, control of him is an illusion however, because he could strike you dead with just a few swipes of his massive paws and sharp teeth.
review
Stenched - Purulence Gushing from the Coffin
January 23, 2025
A good Death Metal release of a band that can do way better than this.
review
Blazemth – Gehenna
January 17, 2025
This album wasn’t a total loss, but the band has to find a way to put some distance between them and other bands in the genre. Black Metal’s boundaries are endless, but they chose to stay within specific confines.
review
Barshasketh – Antinomian Asceticism
January 16, 2025
This music isn’t for the faint at heart. Because once you open the book, its power and secrets come into you. The moment you allow one to enter, all of the others get a free pass. You have to ask yourself, are you able to handle this much power? Save for a few special people, all the rest will fail answering this question. This album was as black as Black Metal gets.
review
Pathogenic – Crowned in Corpses
January 16, 2025
This album was executed nearly flawlessly. It was cavernous, and resounding, and the aggressive and sometimes nihilistic tones were tempered at just the right times with snippets of melody, showing a band that has a deep well of creativity. The sound drew you in, charmed and beguiled you, like the undertow of the ocean, promising salvation that never materialized. In the end, we are all just dust.

December 18, 2024
A fine Old School Black Metal release, in the vein of the Second Wave of Black Metal!
review
Twisted Mist - Gehenna
December 15, 2024
I was a bit leery about Death Metal and Folk being mixed. The melodic tendencies of Death, however, make the pairing surprisingly compelling. “Gehenna” by TWISTED MIST. Strongly recommended for Pagans and Judeo-Christians alike.

Bloodmoon Eclipse – For I Am Your Death
December 12, 2024
Unfortunately, much of this album falls into the droning noise category for me. There were few discernable riffs, and the vocals were delivered in much of the same manner from song to song. This wasn’t a total loss, but it wasn’t very memorable either.
review
Van Zant - Always Look Up
December 9, 2024
The lyrical content of “Always Look Up” makes it very clear about what has happened with the VAN ZANT brothers in their musical as well as family lives. They are all written and sung in plain English, without mincing words or intentions. What it boils down to is that after some 20 years of chasing their dreams they found that it was time to return to the beliefs they had before that time.
review
Blasphemous – To Lay Siege and Conquer
December 8, 2024
I can’t say “To Lay Siege and Conquer” is a terribly inventive album, but it is consistent. If you like your Blackened Death Metal with no spoiler influences like Symph or Atmospheric, this album might be your poison.
review
Retromorphosis – Psalmus Mortis
December 8, 2024
One thing that is immediately noticeable about the album is the fact that it is steeped in the deep traditions of the genre, but it refuses to remain there. They band uses a modern approach to the music, and their technical mastery is strong. For me, it’s model of how modern Death Metal bands should be.

Night in Gales - Shadowreaper
November 17, 2024
“Shadowreaper” is a testament to the strength of the modern day melodic death metal scene. These guys are as good as any of the other old school MDM bands and they still stand tall above anyone in the modern scene.
