Unextinct
Hideous Divinity
Simply put, there is nothing to dislike about this album. The songwriting, the flow, production...everything is spot on. A lot of care and love was spent on this album and it one hundred percent shines through. Music this brutal yet this artistic is something to behold and at this point in time HIDEOUS DIVINITY have a firm grasp on how to meld strong and smart songwriting into insanely intense music without compromising either element.
Pro Xristou
Rotting Christ
ROTTING CHRIST once again prove with “Pro Xristou” they are still among the best in the scene and deserve all the credit they have received. There is definitely a renewed energy to their sound and every song offers something enjoyable.

The band with the short name REAP comes from the United States and "Born from […]
III
Signs Preyer
When done right, Groove Metal can be as smooth as a fine whiskey; when bad, it’s a parody of itself. Italian Groove metalists, SIGNS PREYER, does it right.
Something That Your Eyes Won’t See
Remedy
I get the appeal of REMEDY. There are many, many people on this planet who will love this album. I’m just not one of them.
Mycelium
Manticora
If “Mycelium” is the new direction that MANTICORA is heading from now on, I’m diving in. Yes, feet first!
Transmission to Purgatory
Toby Knapp
I do hope that TOBY KNAPP has gotten his ego trip out of his system with “Transmission to Purgatory”, because he can write good songs. Some of them are on this record.
Hellish Expectations
Midnight
Athenar has revealed in an interview that the whole “Hellish Expectations” album was written in a weekend, and it shows. Every song is carrying the same kind of vibe. It is a consistent and evenly paced record.
Overcome
Glenn Hughes & Robin George
Sometimes life gets a whole lot better than it was. I have that feeling when I am listening to “Overcome” the album by ROBIN GEORGE and GLENN HUGHES.
Asylum
Atrophy
If you enjoy the first two ATROPHY albums, you can lap up this one without too much trouble. That in itself is also quite an achievement.
Aftryk
Vægtløs
Talk about bleak and hopeless, this album is full of both, along with a side of anger. Think about the subject matter mentioned in the album’s introduction, and that is exactly what you hear. Forget unicorns and rainbows, this album strips you down to reality, and it is something that you just can’t face.
The Nighthold
Vargrav
All in all, VARGRAV's "The Nighthold" has its moments of brightness but it ultimately didn't hold my interest for very long. This certainly not a bad album but it's one I won't revisit often.
Cesariana
Litosth
This album offers a solid experience but not much else. It is definitely worth giving a couple listens but it won’t stick around for long.
Infinity
Seventh Crystal
SEVENTH CRYSTAL, the rock band from the fertile Swedish music scene that describes their music as hard rock with arena influences and great melodies, big choruses and a strong identity have released their latest EP that takes a slight twist from their first two albums but promises not to disappoint their strong fan base.
Ruling the Street Scene
Generation Landslide
When a band names themselves after an Alice Cooper song (Generation Landslide) and then writes a song in tribute to one of my all-time favorite musicians Phil Lynott (THIN LIZZY) I’m all in, so let’s see what these young upstarts bring to the table.
OmiNoUS
Jamart
They are not without talent, and my advice would be to get rid of the harsh tones and overly sappy laments.
Interbellum
Cathubodua

All Is Well
MesaVerde
Obviously talented as a band, this was an intriguing album to listen to. I loved that they embraced the 80’s at times, while clearly forging their own unique path. Although I do wish some of the melodies could have been developed and made to linger a bit longer, there is plenty of room for the listeners to explore.
Men Guðs hond er sterk
Hamferð
I feel that the album is a marriage of music and meaning, with each track's themes aligning with the music itself. The album's lyrical content and musical arrangements work in tandem to convey a cohesive message or narrative. This thematic consistency adds depth and resonance to the music, and it's clear that every aspect of the album was carefully considered to ensure that the themes and music complement each other. I haven’t “felt” another album as deeply this year.
Archaic Flame
Before the Dawn
Sometimes as a reviewer, I can expect a certain sound from a veteran band and songwriter. In this case, I was pleasantly surprised. The album delivers a powerful punch with its beefy and bulky sound, showcasing the band's raw energy and intensity. However, the big surprise comes in the form of its melodies, which add a layer of depth and complexity to the music. Now, I am very much looking forward to another full-length from the band.
Galois Paradox
Fragment Soul
A blend of dreamy melodies and tender vocals creates a sonic landscape that is both soothing and enchanting. Each track is like a musical dream, with ethereal sounds that transport listeners to a world of tranquility and beauty. The tender vocals add a heartfelt quality to the music.
New Horizons Pt. 2
Heleven
The bulky and cumbersome side of the album is as heavy as anything that I have heard this year. But the lighter, more ambient side has some very strong melodies. The way that the band connects them can be sharp and unorthodox, but that it what makes the album provocative.

Destruction Is All We Know
Almost Dead
When the genres Thrash and Groove Metal pop up in your head, which bands immediately come to mind? SEPULTURA or PANTERA? EXHORDER? Or maybe even MACHINE HEAD? I have a lesser known but equally heavy band for you to try: ALMOST DEAD, a four-man group from the Bay Area of California.
Phantasm
Deliria
The album was excellent. A combination of strong musicianship and varied songwriting was what they presented, all done with a dark and chilling touch, that leave the listener wallowing in their own suffering.
Häxan Sabaoth
Unaussprechlichen Kulten
In the annals of Black Metal, which I have explored thoroughly, the album just doesn’t stand out for me. Although the first few songs were interesting, the remainder of them took on a similar sound. The production is also very raw and amateur sounding, which I am guessing was on purpose. It wasn’t horrible, but also wasn’t that good.
On the Advancement of Decay
Sublation
A fine EP is what this North American Technical Death Metal act offers to you.
Black | Death | Doom
Saasta
This fine mix between Blackened Death Metal and Doom Metal is really a good surprise heard on this EP.
Defleshed Exhumation
Necrotum
A good Old School Death Metal release, but don't have great expectations.
