The Shadow Cabinet
Wuthering Heights

WUTHERING HEIGHTS is a special band. No doubt about it. Their power / progressive / technical / folk / groovy / psychotic style is pretty much one of a kind. There are many bands adopting some aspects of the aforementioned genres but not that many sounding so psycho as these dudes.
Their fourth studio attempt sounds as the most complete one. The Shadow Cabinet is a real treat for the brain: technical and out there yet so melodic and genius at the same time. With a folk base WUTHERING HEIGHTS expand their skills to the maximum. Being really cool players they manage not to brainstorm the listener but quite intelligently they build their compositions riff by riff to some extraordinary heights! And what best choice than having such a kick ass singer as Nils Johansson (stop saying he brings in mind Tony Martin!) - the guy has huge lungs!!!
The production however is quite modern and really brings the material in the present day. Most power acts choose a much more mellow sound, WUTHERING HEIGHTS deliver a massive and harsh sound, a wise choice I may say! All in all The Shadow Cabinet is an album NOT destined to be understood by the average metal listener. Sorry to say this but some acts are seem more interested to approach a certain elite of listeners with extremely delicate yet bizarre taste in music.
