WINTER'S VERGE is a band from Cyprus that's formed in 2003 by George Charalambous and Stefanos Psillides. In 2008 they brought out "Eternal Damnation", in 2010 they released "Tales of Tragedy" and this year they came with "Beyond Revenge released through Massacre Records. An Epic, Power, Progressive Metal band with a Symphonic touch.

WINTER'S VERGE is clearly not new to the scene and they have undoubtedly thought about the music they wanted to play. They've grown inside their appearance and the band managed to gain an own identity. Sure they're using compositions that made me think about several bands and genres, but they also just the way they are inside music they do like to play, because they sound like they're also having fun. Had forgotten how many great bands are out there, also because I couldn't keep up and afford to buy every album I love. By starting to review albums I'm confronted with my Metal addiction and boy do I love to come across bands like WINTER'S VERGE.

"Beyond Revenge" is a steady moving album driving a rocky road. Vocals are not only clear, but dark and raw too so every once and awhile. Still WINTER'S VERGE is more than great vocals to listen to. Drums, guitar keyboards and bass are not only a steady back up for the vocals, but they also stand powerful together, alone and without vocals. Every line holds its own energy strong enough to stand alone and back up.

The album is a road trip through soft sweet melodies, angry outbursts and catchy feelings brought strong and powerful in a metal kind of way. The songs have depth, but they also contain room to stick your head outside the window and let the wind rush by.  But I guess that's all in the ear of the beholder and the mood behind that ear. Personal taste is after all very personal and so is the way we do experience the music we're stumbling upon. Well from my personal view I would say, if you're a Power Metal fan,  "Beyond Revenge" is  a great album to bump into.
