Dead Harvest

I got to know THIS ENDING a few years back when they had released their debut album Inside The Machine. I had read some interviews and I learned some stuff about them, but I never really bothered to spend some time to listen to their music (and I still haven't understood the reason why). Now it is my chance to fill the gap I left and show them the attention they deserve... or not.
The Swedish act is pretty fresh in the Metal scene, since they have been around for only 4 years. They were formed in 2005 and in just one year they managed to release their debut album through Metal Blade Records. With Fredrik Andersson (AMON AMARTH) behind the drum kit, THIS ENDING hope to achieve something good.
The most common questions Metal journalists used to ask this band's members was if they thought the name of Fredrik Andersson helped the band earn its contract with Metal Blade. After having listened to Dead Harvest I can answer the question by just saying, yes it has helped them a lot. And I say this because THIS ENDING's music has nothing more to offer than any other typical melodic Death Metal release. Harsh vocals, melodic guitar leads and Andersson's relentless drumming are not enough to build a beautiful and strong album. It is definitely not bad, but it is definitely not the album that I would spend my money on.
I would only suggest Dead Harvest to people who are into stuff like SCAR SYMMETRY, NIGHTRAGE, THE DUSKFALL etc. Although the bands I just mentioned are better and have more imagination than THIS ENDING.
