Hysteria In Coma

Some bands have to understand that when they have this evil and cruel image, they have to be pretty good in order not to be funny. I really do not want to spend much time on an album that has been released by some guys with ridiculous corpsepaint.
I don't even know when SOLFERNUS were formed (not that I mind). The only thing I know is that they are from Czech Republic. Their only release before this album was a self financed EP in 2003 (Diabolic Phenomenon). They managed to sign a contract with Shindy Productions and release Hysteria In Coma.
First of all, I am still trying to understand why this album came in for review now. It was released in 2005! Anyway, fortunately this is going to be a short review. Their music is something between Black and Death Metal. Their image is ridiculous and fits better for a Halloween party than a Black/Death Metal band. The production is not bad but it is also not one of the best I have ever come across. The lyrics are too common and pretty childish, too. The band's ideas (regarding the music) are nothing more than common riffing, boring drumming and vocals I have listened to many times in the past (and they were much better than this singer's).
All in all, it is an album that is not the worst I have ever listened to, but it can definitely be in a dictionary next to the word boredom. If you still haven't been tired of bands that don't seem to get words like identity or progress you may use this album as something more than something to place your dog's food.
