For all who follow my reviews there is no news about how particularly annoying I am with female vocals, I still listen to a lot of material that makes me question "what the hell are they doing ?!". However, what was a taboo in the past today is a reality and the women's empire in Metal wins each new day more representatives. Today there is no average, but the amount of female bands is amazing, but as I said, I'm still very careful about this in several ways so it's always very rare for some of them to come to my auditions even though there are several at the moment.

But in the midst of so many bands and new releases occasionally we come across some precious things along the way and I have to recognize that there are still good bands on the female sides to be worthy of attention. This is certainly the case with the Lebanese Death/Thrash Metal band SLAVE TO SIRENS and their first EP "Terminal Leeches" - which has graciously reached my ears today. And I can admit that in addition to the fact that they are a Lebanese female band (yes, dear readers, Metal has no borders) they have a really great instrumental quality for such a young band. Well framed lines, fast riffs and Maya Khairallah's vocals are aggressive and well-placed. "Humanesticide" is proof of that, here the band overlaps and seems to have years of experience, surely that would sound very good live.

"Slave to Sirens" features mixed elements between Thrash and Death with a small dose of Heavy Metal in the introduction, the drums in turn do a brilliant job and the excerpts cleanly leap to the ears amid the guttural lines of Maya. The title track from the album "Terminal Leeches" is puzzling in its introduction but it explodes in energy in a few seconds and the guitars are arranged in a very dynamic way. Another detail worth mentioning is the art of the EP, with a cover that takes your attention, it's really a shame not to be a full-length, because honestly these girls are ready for it! A big advantage when an EP gets my attention in this way is the certainty that we can wait for something really significant to follow then this becomes minimal in the face of speaking in a band from Lebanon and ensures attention only by talent what should be greater ever.

Another aspect that is necessary at the moment is the fact that we are seeing bands emerging from places that were not so conventional before, outside the standard "America-Europe" and this new demand can be so equivalent when we imagine, so always keep your ears attentive, good works are appearing like ants and for Metal this is always a sign of life.
