Germany's nu-metal metallians SLATE GREY strike again with their second full length album release titled World Turns To Black. One might ponder what makes this act tick musically for they are described as melodic thrash metal but what one might hear is something different more of a cross between early MUDVAYNE meets DISTURBED. Not that it's bad but there are good, not so good and the in-betweens that seem to wash up upon the shores of the unknowing making one question as to why? Well with SLATE GREY they seem to pump an entire genre of metal induced harmonies that are radio and MTV friendly as well. But with MTV, I don't think they even play metal anymore? Besides that fact that they are not new to the scene for they have been around since 2007 dishing out one EP and two records underneath their belts one might say they have the experience as a major act for their music can be somewhat catchy. Catchy can be good for it shows the band has brains to create something that attracts the listening senses and is not putting out music just to put it out. There is something constructive going on with these bunch.

Showing you what I mean by humming some sweet melodies title track "World Turns To Black" kicks into full throttle with fast pounding drums, quick guitar rhythms to clean vocals that gravitate to the edge of screaming growls makes for an ear pleasing tune. Vocalist guitarist Amon and bass vocalist Nick share vocals which is well blended that is great for their material but few bands comes to mind when listening to are BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE and MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE. Listening to other tracks the band in some way have the same chunky rhythm signatures that range from slow to mid tempos and fast and back to square one again. Track nine "Pain and Gain" slightly awakens the senses for there is something somewhat different with the timing that is interesting, now thinking about it, its the dual guitar soloing that bring it to a crescendo and then descends back again. By this point after listening to track nine one would think there has to be a build up of interests but each track thereafter seems to be a carousel of going back to the very beginning of World Turns To Black.

Without striking the migraine of dullness that seems to be present I leave you the listener to decide for yourself. Album has great sound production and is well produced but other than that they can really use time to decide as to what direction they might be headed to.
