Sister Sin - Dance Of The Wicked (Reissue) album cover

Sweden's own SISTER SIN are breaking new ground by re-releasing their now hard to find debut through Victory Records. Pre-orders include a bonus DVD with three of their popular videos. The newly re-mastered album will also include some bonus extras live covers and some hard rockin' '80s style demos.

It all began as a tragedy when in an outrage Liv Jagrell left HYSTERICA forever, but later found company with the trashy, bad boys who would eventually lead to her fronting SISTER SIN. In 2003 they unleashed this terse and underrated true sound of the underground. This is the only album with Johnny Sinn, who was later replaced by Jimmy Hitula, who has been with them ever since. Dave Sundberg calls himself Dave Fonda for some reason. I never heard the original but this re-mastered version is a sonic strike of lightning and thunder, a flick of the switch, a blazing epiphany of some kick ass Rock ' Roll as the MOTORHEAD cover with Doro Pesch on vocals clearly indicates.

The music begins with a synthetic live vibe of "Kiss Of The Sky". The title track is quite tragically contagious, while "Falling Into My Dreams" has a real built to last mean MOTLEY CRUE's "Looks That Kill" crunch. "Love Lies" smashes the silence with some passion and verve. Here and on the SKID ROW menacing "Dirty Dam I", Jagrell's annunciations are not too bad, given her attempt to speak English. The bonus demos are damn good too and come across as real songs. Although, they are clearly inspired by MOTLEY CRUE, GUNS N' ROSES, and perhaps THE CULT, TWISTED SISTER, TED NUGENT, etc. "Minor You (Major Me)" = "Dr. Feelgood", "Head Over Heels For Love" = "Kickstart My Heart, "Writings On The Wall" = "Mr. Brownstone", you get the idea.

"Tragedy Love Company" is a decent ballad but reminds me more of BABES IN TOYLAND or 4 NON-BLONDES the way Jagrell sings. The times are not changing too much as their cover of The ROLLING STONES "Paint It Black", is not a real nail biter, and I prefer other renditions by RAGE, W.A.S.P., and GLEN TIPTON.

Now and forever these metal hearts of cold steel will beat 24/7, never running low, championing the fight, sounding the alarm. Fans of HESSLER, CRUCIFIED BARBARA, L7, GIRLSCHOOL, ROCK GODESS, the late great WENDY O' WILLLIAMS, and of course  DORO herself, will all enjoy the head over heels headbanging' anthems. Just accept that these hostile bold hearts are in it for life, and it is all systems go.
