Shadows Fall - Fallout From The War album cover

Normally I would say something very common like: "One more Metalcore band, playing the same things again and again. This time we're talking about the band that made Metalcore become a trend. Shadows Fall are with no doubt the leaders of the specific genre. Put aside your narrow mindedness and prepare yourselves for the new age of Metal, either you like it or not...

Shadows Fall were formed in the summer of 1996. The band that was named after an underground comic series, begun its collaboration with Century Media in 2000 when they released the magnificent Of One Blood. After six years of cooperation with Century Media and being the most selling artist in the label (Shadows Fall have sold over 200000 CD's within the last major release The War Within), the band has already released 4 full-length albums (including this one) and one EP.

Fallout From The War is meant to be a companion piece to The War Within that was released in 2004. The album features a recording of Deadworld, an old bonus track originally recorded with their old drummer, Jason Bittner. We're talking about a very good album that features everything that you would expect from a Metalcore band, especially when this band is Shadows Fall. Speed, brutal/clean vocals, melodies and catchy riffs. This time I can also see that those little thrashy riffs are a bit more. Feels good to me! If you worry about the sound, the record has been produced and mixed by their long-time friend Zeuss who has also worked with bands like Hatebreed, God Forbid and Staind. Great work has been done on the bass lines and the bass in general. It sounds great! I also realized that I had underestimated Paul Romanko as a bass player. Anyway, Fallout From The War also includes three cover songs that clearly show where they drew their main influences from, Mark Of The Squealer by Leeway, December by Only Living Witness and Teasn', Pleasn' by Dangerous Toys.

So, all of you who know Shadows Fall you know what to expect. The rest of you, try to get in touch with their music and you won't be disappointed at all. You don't know what you're missing!
