Screamer - What Excites You (Reissue) album cover

Metal maniacs, rejoice! I'm proud to present to you: SCREAMER; signed via Cult Metal Classics Records, hailing from the United States of America - performing Progressive Power Metal, on their 2nd album entitled: "What Excites You" (re-released November 27th, 2017).

Since formation in 1985; the quintet in question have 2 albums in their discography so far, I'm introduced to their 2nd album "What Excites You". 9 tracks ranging at around 43 minutes; SCREAMER deliver an intricately designed formula of solidly, hard-hitting arrangements of Progressive Power Metal developments. "Filtered Blind" starts off the record with a concrete slab of said sub-genre attributions, Ronny Valeo on guitars composes a progressively technical construction in his contributions which flair with blistering relentlessness - chugging melodies and consistent executions which are dominantly proficient, excelling with a grandiose of organic substances that contrast with diligent distinctions.

Consisting of Bill Carter on vocals; the frontman showcases a complex characteristic of clean yet stylish, high-pitched vocalization. "Into The Sublime" demonstrates fluid dexterity from second guitarist Mike DeRose, establishing a swiftly nimble manifestation of bouncy yet crunchy rhythms. "Channel Sensation" creatively batters the sound production from powerhouse drummer Pat Hainaught, hammering with pulverizing adroitness and captivating efficiency. The melodious efficaiciousness in "2021" embodies a sufficient amount of heavy-hitting riffs and solos which are prominently solid, distributing an unique pattern that flows with advanced mechanics which are fuelled with inventive intentions all round.

Pummelling bassist Paul Bigalke, brilliantly strums his axe with flexible fabrications as in the song "Flick Of The Switch" he rapidly pounds it with fiercely composed dynamics that are generated with detailed precision. "Outside" showed off the hardened velocity of the vocalization which as the record continued, it entertainingly grabbed me with its immersive diligency. "Black Valentine" displays catchy stimulation, as the musical distinctions gallop and thump with enlightening fulfillments. "Sweet Laraine" balanced the aforementioned with more unprecedented abilities that surfaced with elegant hymns that were enjoyably mesmerizing.

Overall concluding the record with "Special Courtesy"; I am compelled to say that SCREAMER certainly outdone themselves with this one, with Cult Metal Classics Records resurrecting their classic records - could this mean a possible resurgence from the band for more future endeavours? Only time will tell - definitely worth the listen.
