Sadistic Drive - Street Cannibal Gluttony (Reissue) album cover

SADISTIC DRIVE is a vile and putrid death metal band from the land of Finland. They return with a reissue of their demo, "Street Cannibal Gluttony". The reissue also includes additional rehearsal tracks, including a cover of Discharge's "Maimed and Slaughtered". SADISTIC DRIVE is equal parts Death Metal, Grindcore, Punk, and just pure mayhem mixed all into one. They present a nasty, filthy, and unabashedly raw sound. The raw vocal power coupled with the distorted guitars and pummeling drums just offers a punishing sound. "Sadistic Drive" kicks off the album with a vile gutter growl. Showing you exactly what the rest of the album is going to provide. The guitars and drums synchronize together with violent duality. And of course, the end of the track is the sounds of a woman being murdered. Which leads directly into "The Morbid Creep". The track being a slower tempo offering a more doom-like sound in nature. The vocals are something to behold for me, because it sounds as if someone is in physical pain. Even though a lot of the tracks are short in nature, they pack a lot of power.

"Body Part Puzzle" offers more of the Punk and Grindcore sound like Napalm Death almost. But the tempo slows down a bit towards the end of the track and ends with some creepy atmospheric chatter and sound. There is not much to say about the rehearsal version of "Sadistic Drive", except that you get a rawer recorded live version of the song. "Instant Putrefaction" offers more of the sped-up death metal like sound mixed in with some punk undertones. This track offers the raw Grindcore element I hear in the bands sound. I would have to say "Disease-Ridden Pervert" is by far my favorite track on the album. It is that traditional punk sounding song with the brutal vocals attached to it. It is almost the lengthiest of all the tracks. It gives you a better idea of the elements that blend together to make Sadistic Drive's sound. You get hit with all the punk, death metal, Grindcore, and doom sound in this track. It is a heavily layered track and even brings a pretty nice guitar solo. I wish this was one of the higher quality recorded tracks on the album. The cover of "Maimed and Slaughtered" is fantastic, considering the recorded quality of the track.

Sadistic Drive is a raw and energetic mixture of all the brutal genres of music that I hold dear. They have some brutal charm to their sound. I would love to hear a better-quality recorded version of their music. But overall "Street Cannibal Gluttony/Rehearsal 05/2019" is ugly and vile, and that oddly works for them.
