Robin Beck - Livin' On A Dream album cover

Do women know how to 'Rock'? Do they? A question similar to the famous one Shakespeare's Hamlet, Prince of Denmark (women from Denmark, by the way, can getcha rocks off!). Serious again: women in Rock music did have - it's the truth - limited chance in providing their skills (the 'music' ones). Some of them did not have further success; some others did nail men's balls face down to the gutter. Robin Beck is such a case, and it's really good to see the lady back on the streets again.
Yeah, yeah, yeah......first time, first love, oh what feeling blah blah blah..., my foot. A good 'popish' AOR tune breakin' through the TV ads structure, even if the Brooklyn, New York dynamic lady did sing a whole set of excellent 'catchy' melodic Rock tunes in her successful 1989's Trouble Or Nothin' album. A genuine, passionate voice provided first class hits like Don't Lose Any Sleep, Save Up All Your Tears, Hide your Heart (yes, the KISS/Bonnie Tyler sung tune) and If You Were A Woman (And I Was A Man) (another Bonnie Tyler hit, written by 'guru' Desmond Child).
28(!) years after the lively woman's first solo effort, Livin' On A Dream does mark the surprisingly notable return of Robin Beck. Her voice is not altered at all; warm, fervent and appealing, the singing throughout the tracklist rolls more than 'smoothly'. Thirteen songs of pure melodic FM Rock music, that - in spite of the dozen of such releases the last years - sound so fresh and touching, that it makes you wonder how 'classic' many tunes can turn up to stay in the years to come (...OK, dream on...). Most songs are mid-tempo ones, with floating response and dynamic choruses, in the vein - nothing is sacred! - of Bonnie Tyler or (80's) HEART. The production is appropriate,  the assistance of Robin's husband, James Christian (HOUSE OF LORDS) scales it up more, with the rest of the 'current' HOL clan resulting in an album that will fulfill your AOR/Melodic Rock needs 100%.
Livin' On A Dream is a personal album. You can read the lyrics of/about this Brooklyn woman and get lost in the myth. Fine singing in great tunes (the non-stop-writing-monster Tommy Denander is in this one, too, you Frontiers maniacs!) by a wonderful Rock girl'; for, she's still a girl living her dream. AOR lovers, you just found your companion for the summer. Dive in!
P.S.: The Till The Last Tear Drop Falls duet kicks major ass...
