Rammstein - Rammstein album cover

One of the worlds most infamous bands RAMMSTEIN are back with their seventh full length album. The album which is self titled, has been long awaited and took about a decade to come out. The band still made up of all it's original members, decided they weren't going to rush into this album and weren't even sure if it was actually going to be made. They felt like they didn't want to be pressured into it. We have Christoph Schneider on drums, Richard Z. Kruspe and Paul Landers on guitars, Oliver Riedel on bass, Flake Lorenz on keyboards and the one and only Till Lindemann on vocals.

The early press for the album was mixed because as usual, people wanted to say that they were relying on a Nazi theme, in which the band has adamantly said is not the case their entire careers. They have always said they oppose Nazism and some people refuse to listen to that. What some people don't realize is that these guys grew up while Germany was split into East and West Germany. They were still dealing with the fallout of World War II and one side was dealing with the rise of the USSR. But enough with the history lesson, let's get started on the album.

The first song is "Deutschland" which was their first single released. They even had quite a long video that went along with it and it's what stirred up all the controversy. Aside from all of that, the song was amazing and showed everyone that RAMMSTEIN was back! This is exactly what everyone had come to love and enjoy about the band. The second song "Radio" was their second single which was met with almost as much controversy, but what I have read about it, it's talking about only having certain radio stations under Soviet control. I am not one hundred percent sure about that, but that's what I have read. The song itself is absolutely amazing. I have been listening to it since it was released.

"Zeig Dich" begins with a very nice yet eerie chorus singing that leads into a wonderful riff. This song takes me all the way back to when I first heard RAMMSTEIN, this song gave me chills when Till started singing the chorus loudly. I am completely in love with this song and album so far. "Auslander" begins with a great little electronic intro and that leads into what I say is the perfect example of what RAMMSTEIN is musically. The mixture of electronica and metal is probably why I also listen to and enjoy most electronic music. I fucking love this track!

"Sex" is one of my favorite songs on the album so far as well. It starts off at a medium range tempo and then jumps into the hard hitting metal I have come to love from them. For true fans of the band I guarantee this is a favorite as well. Honestly so far I feel that they went back to their roots and this is one of my all time favorite albums they have released. "Puppe" starts off pretty eerie but is brought out of it by the nice beat that's laid down. This song is another that reminds me of old school RAMMSTEIN. At one point Till is completely at the forefront of the song and makes this song one of the most epic songs I have ever heard from them. I really don't think I'm going to be able to pick a favorite song because they are all equally amazing.

"Was ich Liebe" is a slower song from them but don't let that fool you, this song is sick! I really appreciate their songs that are like this, slower but still intense. "Diamant" is one of the most melodic songs I have ever heard from them. It's actually kind of beautiful. I don't know what the song is about but this is one of my now all time favorite songs they have ever written. I could honestly listen to this song on repeat. "Weit Weg" is another enchanting song. This song drew me all the way in and will be another I listen to quite a few times.

"Tattoo" is the second to last song on the album and I believe they were saving the best for last. This song completely took me back to what made me love RAMMSTEIN in the first place. The mixture of Industrial and pure Metal. This is another one I absolutely love. I am so happy they took their time on the album, this is amazing. The final song on the album is "Halloman" and it has the most evil and depressing feeling on the entire album. It's really well written just like the entire album.

This whole album is perfect and I will be listening to it for a very long time. I really wish that all the controversy around the band would go away, but that's highly unlikely since they have been around for twenty five years. I guess people will always find something to bitch about when it comes to Metal. I for one think this album is one of the best they have ever put out. If I could, I would give this album an even better score.
