Hi, my name is NOSTRADAMEUS and I'm a band hailing from Gothenburg, Sweden. I was 'born' on the way to the Wacken Open Air festival in Germany; my godfathers are Freddy Persson (vocals) and Jake Freden (guitars). I now am nine years old. In my first years of my existence, I had the chance to 'carry' a good demo recording so it was not difficult to gain a record deal with the AFM Records label.
My first three albums - Words Of Nostradameus (2000), The Prophet Of Evil (2001) and The Third Prophecy (2003) - did score good sales, thus I had the chance to tour and become friends with fellow German bands like EDGUY, HAMMERFALL and MASTERPLAN. My label was kind enough to re-issue these three albums as a boxset in late 2004 (or was it early 2005? Am I turning old enough?...).
I was sad enough to see enough lineup changes - the latter being guitarist Michael Aberg's departure prior to the release of the new album Pathway. Thank the God of Metal, Lennard Specht (PATHOS, FEJD) stepped in proving to be the perfect candidate. In spite of the endless appetite, three years did pass in order to come up with the follow-up: Pathway is now ready and - as expected - I must explain some things regarding my sound/direction.
I was always eager to follow the HELLOWEEN/GAMMA RAY/IRON SAVIOR etc path. My members grew up with such shit and I'm grateful to them for my culture. Still, my friendship with the EDGUY clan did alter my character a little bit, providing me with more info on how I should sound clearer and more melodic. I do not feel 'mellow', though, and this happens due to the strong musician ship of my musicians. Instead, many are the dark moments I have, plus some spare 'prog' mood possesses me once in a while. The base - however - remains my Euro Power attitude.
I feel like I'm turning from a teenager to an adult with this album. You may recognize it from the lyrics themes. Lots of hard times have come over these few years of existence and a certain 'dark' atmosphere may crawl over me, but - to tell you the truth - I have enough guts to shout it out: I'M ALIVE! Many of the old pals may have witnessed such tension to sound like this from the Hellbound (2004) predecessor. Yes, the emotions have risen higher and the anger is mixed with amplitude and melancholy. I admit so.
My new chapter was 'mixed' and 'mastered' in Roasting House recording studio, Malmo, Sweden, for a period of almost five months; my producer, Pontus Lindmark, wanted it all set in order to achieve the very best out of everyone and everything. Thus, my album's production is 100% 'metal' with tons of a live feeling. The instruments are all sounding crystal clear and I believe it was all worth the wait. My singer, too, did a great job; he's narrative, he's furious, he's melodic were needed and - thankfully - he's not that eager to follow the cliche' Euro Power way of singing throughout the whole album. Good for me; I needed some identity!
So, this is all for now. I'm NOSTRADAMEUS, I'm really honoured to get to talk to you for my new essay. I'd like to meet-and-greet you 'audio'-ly any time in the near future; if my CV meets your requirements I confirm you won't be disappointed. Trust me...
