Got to be honest here, I never liked bands that have women as vocalists, and that's the opposite of my view about women in general, I love them and the more the merrier. JEX THOTH hailing from the Wisconsin, US of A, play a mix of Psychedelic Rock, Doom Metal, like many American Doom Metal bands this combination is in order to keep some craziness within the Doom routine Tempo.

When I flipped the power on switch on this album, or should I be realistic I just pressed play on my VLC application, I was struck by lightning, yes lighting in the middle of the summer. The first song "To Bury" starts with an ambient sound of machines and Native American drums, and out of nowhere Jex starts singing. Her voice fit the ambient sound like a glove, it's a mesmerizing song that will not go into the Psychedelic Rock, Doom Metal definition, however it has a quality that it's very hard to explain. On through the next, from this point on, comes a decline. I was ready for a mind blowing experience like the first time I listened to a KYUSS release, something that you won't ever forget. Nonetheless, "The Places You Walk" is an OK song, mixes some Doomish guitar riffing and sound with some Psychedelic guitar and sounds, yet again Jex was able to keep the song a floating, but that's it.

"Into A Sleep" goes again into the same ambience, a dark atmosphere that fits Jex's voice, but nothing happens, plain boredom. I suggest on waiting till "Ehjä" to get some real Doom Metal sound and realize how Jex can apt to it.

Overall I have several mix emotions about the album because it's not a Doom Metal it's more Psychedelic Rock and I can't say that I'm a big fan of this genre. But Jex's vocal abilities elevated the album's efforts. Nothing is revolutionary about this release, somewhat boring, yet still solid.
