Insision - Terminal Reckoning album cover

What's up, Metal maniacs? The Thrasher returns to give you an insight; this time, on the Death Metal quintet known as: INSISION, on their new album entitled: "Terminal Reckoning" signed via Severed Records. Right off the bat, "Terminal Reckoning" is just about what you'd expect from a Death Metal record: brutality, destruction and terror. INSISION unveiled their 4th release of this year -2016- and as soon as I played the first song: "Among Us" I acquainted myself with a similar sound to that of the almighty CANNIBAL CORPSE; no doubt their inspiration came from them, which is a no brainer considering INSISION's first demo release was entitled: "Meant To Suffer", coincidence? Though not all entirely similar; the band has some intriguingly unique but interesting consistent value. But for the most part, INSISION are simply a Brutal Death Metal band that share similar traits to that of bands like CANNIBAL CORPSE. I, personally, love Death Metal and bands like CANNIBAL CORPSE, so I relished this listen with exquisite head-banging fruition. This is a band not for the faint of heart, though.

The powerful lineup consists with Roger Johansson and Adam Ramis – both on guitars, who perform some insatiably deadly riffs, as expected. Ljusebring Terrorblaster on drums and Gustav Trodin on bass who add the thumping power of this deadly inquisition of epic proportions; but also add some Progressive moments here and there...to make it sound like they aren't ripping off other bands, which is a good thing, of course. The obvious reason I mentioned the obvious band earlier, is that Carl Birath on vocals come in with typical Death Metal quality, and so the musicianship and instrumentality of this band simply reminded me of -that- band, which is not a bad thing, because both bands are absolutely crushing. "Terminal Reckoning" is just about what you'd expect when you first press play on your device; a truly destructive abomination that just begs you to head-bang that skull of yours with extremity.

"Terminal Reckoning" comprises of 8 tracks. Songs like "Ominous Spiral", "Infected" and "Shapeshifting" are all stellar examples of brutality that unleashes the brutal face of approval and devil horns with brutal pride. "Old Ways" is the longest song on the album but is the most interesting and diverse (in terms of implementing arranged riffs that I simply hadn't heard of before in Death Metal). As I progress through the album; "Cold Air", "XXV.II.MMXIV" and "Resist" are very short but showcase some spectacular instrumentations that insists the cite of my opinion on INSISION as a whole – simply put, they are brutal, crushing and deadly, no compromises, no restraints. This is a band that just wants to trigger that rage within you and simply have a thrash about with power. If you're here for a new discovery in the depths of Death Metal; look no further, the record is available for free via their bandcamp so, HAVE AT IT!
