Inimical - Fucked Up Beyond All Recognition album cover

The title got my attention immediately! Well, that's a cool way to describe my health condition lately....oh OK, back to the review subject...
The Danish deathcore metallers INIMICAL have returned with their second effort Fucked Up Beyond All Recognition. First of all, I have to admit the nice work the guys have done with their EP project here. It's hard to see such a professional work when we are talking about a self-release. Great production, nice artwork and inlay.
While their previous demo recording Lambs To The Slaughter, left me with a feeling that these guys can do something great in the future, this one is a step in the wrong direction. What I mean? One of the most disappointing situations is when a band has nothing to provide but just a nice copy of a certain style. In our case here INIMICAL, even they are not bad, they are so much alike THE HAUNTED that it is getting annoying! The band decided to erase some of their Death Metal influences and multiply their hardcore ones. So their sound got somehow trapped into HAUNTED's world.
Really, if there weren't those deathly vocals I could swear that i was hearing leftovers from the first couple of albums of THE HAUNTED! The thing is that I am sure they are capable of doing something more attractive. That doesn't mean that a metalcore fan won't find it interesting. The band is young, tight, quite energetic and in banging mode. They just have to concentrate a lot on their songs in the future, to make them more solid with personal attitude if they want to go furthermore.
In any case, I think that they deserve the record deal, and hope for a killer debut.
