Could have been a lot better. This was the sentence I would probably use to close this review but can also be used right at the top to summarize a review before even it starts. Since this CD is filled with pessimistic modern Rock, what a better way to start this review with a totally pessimistic message.
Ignarus consists of two member: Kevin Showmaker (Vocals & Guitars) and Diminic Vigilante (Drums) and may I assume that these are not their real names? Anyway, their debut self titled CD is a good attempt of modern Rock with a good production and several interesting songs. I have two objections however. The vocals need a lot of improvement; at times Kevin sounded too whiny for my taste. The other thing is that every now and then I had the impression that the band run out of power. Why is that? I mean they have some very heavy songs like Shadow Of Pain but the other songs are too thin. Also, a bit more diversity wouldn't hurt anyone.
I like the artwork of the CD since I am a sucker for photograph-based artworks. Thumbs up also for the very informative multimedia promo CD that accompanied the actual CD! Since this is a debut, I dare say that the band has a lot to offer but also a long road to follow. I expect a much more mature second album.
