Harvest Gulgaltha - Altars Of Devotion album cover

Twisting into diabolical hatred Arizona's well kept underground dark secret HARVEST GULGALTHA takes hold to the aboveground realms with their debut full length effort titled Altars Of Devotion. Keeping to the hellish sounds that are expressed through hades inspired musical torment the trio resurrects some of the gloomiest of black death metal offered to date. Altars Of Devotion slash through the listening decibels with their slow moving tuned harmonies which sets the mental stage to perfect pitched doom mystery that spells intrigued pandemonium delights. Shrouded in darkness the band member remain mute to discovery which their elusiveness does nothing new for them but offers a thriller for fans wanting to unravel there dark musical chapters.

Unfolding these divisions into what makes HARVEST GULGALTHA an enigma first introduction track "A Vision Unleashed" belts into death itself with ferocious growls, rapid infectious guitar playing with emphasis of low tuned chords to the incessant rhythms of the haunting drums. Sounds like a voodoo ritual taking shape but its such a deranged attractive harmony to listen to. Vocally the unknown frontman bassist has that early low baritone of SEPULTRA (Max Cavalera, Beneath The Remains-1989 & Arise-1991) energy going on mixed with a heavy rigid backbone which creates something quite compelling doom-wise that is. Tapping into more of HARVEST GULGALTHA appeal the group musically shapes their spheres of torment with well crafted music which one might upon listening to them for the first time regard them as an established mature act.

Displaying their sheer force of musical will power the band punches you into the face with "Transcend The Wrathful" a song of epic brutal proportions dishing up some of the best of what black gloom death metal has to offer. HARVEST GULGALTHA possesses an interesting sound that it is hard to pin point as to what it really is but the overall ending result is powerful indeed. Songs "Serpentine Path", "Blood Creation" and "Ritual Of The Traditional Sacrifice" take hold of the listeners inner core to purge any negative vibrations that might linger thus turning them into slaves to their undoing. Altars Of Devotion is a well recorded album that showcases their raw sound that echos straight from the instruments straight to the listeners ear. Album in its entirety is well constructed both musically and overall production, only downfall is the length of the songs but the sound which is generated more than makes up for it. Seeking quality gloom doom death metal at it's best seek no more for HARVEST GULGALTHA delivers it face up!
