Gurd - Bang! album cover

Bang!. A small and comprehensive title, which perfectly describes the content of this album. It's been two years since thrashers Gurd celebrated their 10th anniversary as a band! Now, they are back in business with a brand new album, their seventh one if I am not mistaken...
Hailing from Switzerland, the land of the mighty Celtic Frost (and many other bands I am bored to mention right now), they were formed in 1994 by ex-Poltergeist axeman V.O. Pulver. They were lucky enough and signed a contract with Century Media in 1996! They have already shared the stage with acts like Kreator, Coroner, Sodom, Pro-Pain and Stuck Mojo. As you can see, we are dealing with a really experienced band here!
So, I place the CD in my CD player and... BANG! I think this title was the best they could choose! A band that knows no limits and enriches its sound with elements that vary from classic Thrash Metal to Hardcore and Machine Head style sharp edge riffing! That's why these guys have managed to play live with Thrash, Hardcore, even Rapcore bands! In this album, you'll find everything you want in a 21st century Thrash Metal release. Speed, hardcorish slow breaks, melodic touches, incredible grooves and a rhythm section that kicks major ass! I think that the drummer and the bassist really make this band fly! It is more than obvious that all four musicians are skilled and focused on what they're doing, that's why they're doing it really good! The songs are very good and won't let you calm down, not even for a single second! The production is very nice, although a more Hardcore production would fit their music like a glove. So, imagine a mixture of Machine Head, current Exodus and some Pantera. You got it guys! These guys surely know how to rock!
I admit I wasn't aware of Gurd but as it seems they just gained one more fan! Be sure to check this release out! I reassure you that you are not going to regret it! Have fun while headbanging!
Oh, I forgot to mention something important! The Black Sabbath cover rules! Nothing different or new in it. Just a fucking heavy cover!
