GODHEAD MACHINERY formed in Norrkoping, Sweden during the year 2015.  The Black Metal band has two albums out so far;  2017's release "Ouroboros" and "Aligned To The Grid" which was released earlier this year.

"Tithe II" is largely voice samples combined with a chaotic musical background which ranges from simple and quiet to loud and demanding. The singing consists of aggressive Back Metal style gutturals interspersed with low-range shrieks. The track sets the mood for the rest of the album quite effectively. "Alpha" has a more traditional Black Metal sound to it with Doom Metal overtones added for good measure. There are some really nice melodic hooks throughout the song as well as a good solo. It's a solidly crafted song that won't disappoint you. Be sure to listen to "The Existential Strive" as well. It starts out somewhat low-key then becomes far more powerful as it continues. There is strong element of melancholy present within the song that manages to blend with the angry tone in a compelling fashion. The resulting mix of beauty, sadness, rage and despair will definitely resonate with other fans of Black Metal music as well.

The other tracks that I really appreciate are "Above A Legion Of Equals," "Illusion," and "Aligned To The Grid".  Track seven, "Above A Legion Of Equals," features a choir as the song starts, giving the track a Gothic feeling right away. I enjoy the way the track changed n tempo as the vocals began. The singing itself carried a great deal of fury that blended with the overall speed of the music extremely well, giving it that punch which is signature to this genre of music. "Illusion" is lovely and melodic at first, giving you the impression it might be a gentler song. Once the singing starts it's obvious that this is not a gentle song. The contrast between the dark, beautiful background music and the raw tone of the vocals is striking and hard to ignore. The changes in speed and pace keep you interested in the track as well. The final track on the album, "Aligned To The Grid," has a deceptively simple intro which focuses on a single guitar until the muttered vocals gradually join in. The singing has a strangely disembodied quality to it that eventually becomes slightly more aggressive without sacrificing the despondent tone. There's no missing the fact that the track is a lament about modern society, a sentiment which it expresses quite well with its bleak attitude and somewhat monotonous underlying melody.

I would definitely recommend "Aligned To The Grid" as something to consider the next time you're looking to add to your own collection. It has a Black Metal sound with a Death Metal attitude. I think it would appeal to even casual fans of metal music because of the range of songs featured on it. There's something for almost everyone.
