Bulgaria isn't a country known for its Metal output, but this is where DOMAIN OF DREAMS (previously known as SOLARIS) hail from. The band have opened for such legends as W.A.S.P. and HEAVEN AND HELL and this is their third full length album, their first under the new name.

This is a concept album, and all the tracks are named 'The Dream Of...' with the theme of the song afterwards, logically concluding with "The Dream Of Dreams". The DREAM THEATER influence is quite clear to see here, with the big riffs vying for attention against the keyboard parts and impassioned vocals. However, DOMAIN OF DREAMS create their own sound so as not to be pigeonholed by the Prog fans. I think the strongest track on here is "The Dream Of The End" with the guitar work and drums at their very best, with even the bassist having a solo. But really, throughout the album, there are lots of moments of technical skill from every member of the band.
Indeed, all the members of DOMAIN OF DREAMS are talented musicians. The solos are excellent, the drumming strong, and the keyboard sections are good without being overpowering. Daniel Radev's voice is excellent, and he shows a lot of range, but I just feel that he could have done a little less wailing. Especially since he shows different styles during some parts of the album, and he's obviously a very good singer. One other minor gripe that I have is the production of the album is maybe a little low, and the sound is not as clear as I would have liked.

Overall though, this is a solid Prog album from the band, sure to please fans of the genre. The band have created a nice feeling with this album, but unfortunately I think that they may not have done quite enough to stand out enough from the rest of the Prog albums out today.
