Metal maniacs, rejoice! I'm proud to present to you: DETHONATOR; signed via Killer Metal Records, hailing from England - performing Melodic Heavy/Thrash Metal, on their self-titled album "Dethonator". (Released on February 24^th, 2016)

Since formation in 2002 (as KALEB until 2009) the quintet in question have 2 albums behind them; I am introduced to their self-titled released, which oddly enough has 2 of those records on the Metal Archives forum...my guess is that DETHONATOR re-released said album for a signed record deal release - DEPRAVED PLAGUE have done this before, but let's get down to it...consisting of 9 stimulating tracks of intricately designed technicality, ranging at around 46:36; the quartet deliver a flourishing array of high-pitched vocalization, to crushing instrumentation while keeping the songwriting typically hard-hitting with originality and memorability. The sound production is unsurprisingly enlightening for this 2016 release, going in with high-expectations – thinking this was a Death Metal outfit, I am pleasantly surprised to be enjoying a solid slab of unprecedented Metal, new quartets usually astonish me with this incentive - sometimes.

The first thing I thought of was – as soon as Tris Lineker's vocals kicked in; I instantly thought I was listening to a Hardcore band, and then the vocals grew on me being oh so wrong on that front. "Wreckers" begins the album showcasing diligently encouraging musicianship; providing complex, dexterous riffs from Henry Brooks on guitar - efficiently strumming with an organic aesthetic in mind. "Harbringer" unleashes a pummeling display of unique elegance from powerhouse Johnny Mo on drums where he crushes his set with invigorating effects for the listener; "I Am Thunder God" electrically exercising in more exquisite proficiency, and supplies a consistent substance of that melodic atmosphere profusely. Let's not forget Adz Lineker on bass/vocals – contributing some unprecedented growls here and there for an immense sense of brutality, also showing some adapt, galloping strength on his bass.

"Many Have Fallen" is a bad-ass tune that compiles dominating excellence while keeping a prominent formula in which isn't filler material, meaningful lyricism are substantially flair around this portion of the record. "Shadows" melodically keeps things constructively groovy; I have come to notice that while the instruments are precisely heavy, there is not as much thrash in formulaic to that of say, SEPULTURA. I think the vocals still don't help here, as it seems too clean to be considered aggressively thrash. The titular track composes in some more of those guttural growls, while "Morbid Skies" showcases a melancholic indomitable presence to it. "Massive Demonic Killing Spree" is a fiercely exhilarating track; just about as much as you'd expect in the title, and closing with the epic "In The Place Of The Skull" has me overall brutalized by this one, while some minor setbacks disappointed me a little; I still enjoyed a significantly produced record.

After a couple more listens; "Dethonator" grew on me and the vocals did too, the instrumentation got more thrash by the end of the record - fusing heavy & thrash metal into a monumental fabricate of epic proportions.<
