Reaping What Is Left
Deathstorm

Eager to inject some life into their local music scene, three men from Austria took to the stage in 2007 to show their fellow Austrians what real Metal is all about; a scene (according to them) was dominated by Metalcore. Originally under the name DAMAGE before changing it to the much cooler sounding DEATHSTORM in 2010, the band shows that they are all-too-eager to melt your face off within the first few minutes of playing one of their albums. Their third studio album "Reaping What Is Left" is the fruit of two years of hard work since putting out their last album "Blood Beneath the Crypts". Any fan of SODOM is sure to find a kindred spirit in DEATHSTORM, especially in the second track "Agent of Dismay". Guitarist Ferl emulates SODOM guitarist Bernemann's death-defying string acrobatics perfectly.
There's a predatory darkness to DEATHSTORM. An inhuman endurance, proving they are capable of traversing distances far and wide to make their next kill. Songs like "Ossuary Darkness" and "Hallowed Ground" are fast, circling around like sharks. "Unholy Lamentations" have elements of early SLAYER. "G.R.L. (Genessee River Lust)" is a terrifying song most likely about Arthur Shawcross, otherwise known as the 'Genessee River Killer' from the 60s to the late 80s/early 90s. Shawcross was a man with an unspeakable past and equally unspeakable crimes (especially during the Vietnam war) so, the song is a fitting tribute to an absolute monster. The album ends with vocalist Mac literally screaming like a lunatic in "Dying Insane".
DEATHSTORM is angry and terrible and demands not only that you know exactly whom you are dealing with, but also to run far away while you still can before it is too late. "Reaping What Is Left" is an excellent Thrash assault that sinks its teeth in and doesn't let go.
