Colour Of Noise
Colour Of Noise
Clearly we are into an outing, for a session of kicking out the jams, stepping back into the roots, the basics of British Rock music. I guess that it would be good to do it now than later on, when all might have the chance of being forgotten. Therefore, there is nothing better than a showdown of a gathering of some of the UK scene's top Rock musicians of the current age, listening to them slide back in time to the late 60s and 70s. No doubt a good call, especially if one is up to making it in a swell quality.
COLOUR OF NOISE is the name, and their self-titled album already turned a few stones, especially with a participating in the latest edition of the Download Festival. I am sure it wasn't hard to say yes to these guys, especially with Matt Mitchell (also of FURYON) as lead vocalist. The band's prime is salvaging the best out of Rock N' Roll or moreover, Classic Rock addiction. There is that pure malediction in this kind of music, as if it is everlasting, immortal to forever reign even though today's world is showing the other chick thus attributing it as overlooked as mentioned.
Knee deep between the lines, I could feel the smothering into the classics, the old icons, some dead, some still alive and well but surely will turn in any time soon. Hazes of DEEP PURPLE, LED ZEPELLIN, ROLLING STONES and also several incursions of early WHITESNAKE are on the roll, breathing heavily in their own unique noise. COLOUR OF NOISE surely built up a smooth basis, relishing crunchy riffs that are catchy enough to memorize, nostalgic lead guitar ticks, cool rhythm section beats of old and songwriting that is creative yet not over stretching it.
Every now and then, they smash with tunes that are close to the big hits of the past, proving that there are others ends to each of the musicians involved. However, though the quality of the songs is good, the only track that really stood up was "Hit Rock Bottom", totally catchy and hard hitting. Yes, I thought of UFO's "Rock Bottom" at the time, but to be brutality honest, the latter is much more supreme. It is hard to beat Schencker's era with the Brits.
So there you have it, a Rock album, not heavy, yet not letting you head back to bed. It is jumpy, easy to get into and out there to bust a nut.
