The Harvest Floor
Cattle Decapitation

The crazy motherfuckers CATTLE DECAPITATION return three years after their last - and really good may I add - Karma.Bloody.Karma album. With an incredibly clever cover artwork for one more time and a pretty good album these guys release their brand new weaponry through the label that has supported them all these last years, Metal Blade Records.
Coming straight from the US, to be more precise San Diego, California, these socially and environmentally aware vegetarians, no matter how funny this sounds like, have managed to release several albums that helped them build a respectable reputation in the Death/Grind scene. Their new and fourth album is a step forward for the band and I guess that some people will be kind of confused with some new elements in The Harvest Floor.
The production is really good, as in Karma.Bloody.Karma and all the typical blasts and growls are here. The fact is that the band experimented a bit on its sound adding some more melodic parts that will surprise you but after some listening sessions you will start to absorb these new elements and see that they have put a lot of effort into this new album. Don't get confused, of course I am not saying that CATTLE DECAPITATION decided to turn into a Metalcore act. It is just that they have more melody than they had in the past. One more thing is that Travis has worked a lot on his vocals as it seems, since he does stuff that he probably wouldn't even think about doing in the previous releases. Great work has been also done on the riffing by Elmore who proves that he is one hell of a sick bastard!
Thumbs up for the band's new drummer, David McGraw (FUSED, SLEEP TERROR), who beats the living shit out of his drum kit and proves that CATTLE DECAPITATION were more than right to pick him. All in all, nothing amazing by these Grind psychos, but an album that is a pretty good choice for Death Metal and Grind fans out there. Whoever knows this band, knows what he'll have to face. The rest of you, either take the risk or you wasted your time reading this review.
