It isn't often that I get to review a band from Chile. In fact, I never have. The group is listed as a duo on their bio sheet, but the band picture has five people in it. I guess that is the final lineup and wasn't available as of the time of this review. ALEXIS plays a form of Power Metal though not every song fits that description. The song "Birds Of Prey" is very slow and plodding, not Power Metal at all. The song "Metalizer II" is definitely Power Metal. It is a fast song with screaming vocals and crunchy guitar and some double bass. The production is clean and shows off the skill of Christian Rodriguez who is introduced as a "highly skilled engineer". I will take their word for it. In the song "Metalizer" I feel they are trying as hard as humanly possible to sound like Rob Halford. I have no problem with that, but it is also nice to sound like yourself too. "Witchblade" is a very good song. I could do without the intro harmony vocals though, but the rest of the song is rock solid. On a side note, no other songs performed with Halford-esque type vocals.

I am unaware of the music scene in their native Chile. So I don't know if they will fit into whatever scene it is that they have there. I know it is a good album for the genre, whether it is considered to be in vogue in their country or not is anybody's guess. If all else fails they can certainly tour Europe opening for other bands. Everyone has to start somewhere and this is a good effort. I do believe this band has a future. The playing is solid, everything is solid. The songwriting is standard Power Metal lyrics. Nothing stands blatantly out of place, and that is a good thing. It shows that they have a style and aren't just throwing everything against the wall to see what sticks. I get enough of those types of bands as it is. Freddy Alexis is a good singer. He speaks good English, especially seeing that it is not his native tongue.

This is a fine release. Fans of the genre will find a home here. Hopefully the record label will give them the support they need to make it in a world filled to the brim with bands of all Metal genres. I can recommend this album with a clear conscience. It isn't an awesome release, but it is better than average. Their homepage has samples so you can make you mind up for yourself.
