SUMPTUS IGNIS: Release New Single "Eternal Locus."
July 6, 2019
On July 5th, Progressive metal trio Sumptus Ignis (Sum-tus Ig-nis) releases a single for their latest song "Eternal Lotus". It was inspired by Sokushinbutsu, a Buddhist practice of selfmummification. Musically, the song features touches of melodic death metal, doom, and dark psychedelic rock, with moods shifting from intensity to the melancholic.
Sumptus Ignis formed in South Florida in 2016 by Joshua Wojtaszek and Bryn Schurman as a side project of Identity Collapse. They crystallized around the idea of fusing various flavors of extreme metal with industrial electronica, ambient synths, and progressive rock bombast. Multiinstrumentalists both, Josh and Bryn wanted to compose songs for this new project with a more cinematic approach, and without getting boxed into the roles of their previous bands. The soaring and expressive vocals of Jessy Sparks added the missing ingredient to their EP Seasons of Attrition and first album Ambition.
