Saxon was founded in 1976 and has to date sold about 15 million albums.

In Sweden, five of their first seven albums hit #1 on the Swedish hard rock list.

Saxon counts as one of the best live bands in the New Wave of British Heavy Metal and has influenced many hard rock bands through the years, including Metallica, Megadeth, Mötley Crue and Pantera .
