COLLECT RECORDS: Announces Official Label Launch
July 10, 2014
Following a diverse array of formative co-releases - including the debut records from Touché Amore, Midnight Masses, and United Nations - the Brooklyn-based Collect Records strikes out on its own and announces its official label launch this week.
Founded in 2009 by Thursday vocalist Geoff Rickly, the present-day Collect Records aims to be as distinct as its history suggests. The label's first year of releases will include the sophomore album from D.C.-based post-rock experimentalists Black Clouds, a debut single and full-length album from Vanishing Life (featuring members of Quicksand and !And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead), a co-release with Terrible Records from hardcore provocateurs Sick Feeling, and more yet to be announced.
On Monday, June 30, from 7-9 PM (EST), as part of the BBC Radio 1 Rock Show, DJ Dan Carter will also be making a special internationally-coordinated announcement and global radio premiere regarding Collect's first official signing and release, marking a new era for both this artist and the label alike. (U.S. listeners will be able to tune in live via the BBC Radio 1 website). In the meantime, Collect will open its social media portals to the public (on Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, and Instagram, among others), with a full website to coincide with next week's announcement.
"The chance to empower other musicians to follow their dreams has been totally revitalizing for me," Rickly says. "Most of the people here at Collect have played in bands, toured, and worked tirelessly because they love music past any reasonable point. So if the mission of Collect is to give great records a supportive home, then we all know what that means. And it means a lot to us."
